Uncle Ulty's Portrait Session

Head out of Thamasa following the northern coastline and up around the mountains.

Reccomended Level: 26

Eventually (actually pretty quickly) you will come to this cave, which, if you explored a bit before going to Thamasa, was not there before.
The first room of the cave has three exits. First, grab the cure rod from the treasure chest. This is a nice item to equip if you're facing tough enemies, which you aren't in this level. Just attack your own party members with it to heal 1000+ HP. If you're in the mood for exploring, head into either the left or top exit. As you'll soon discover, they are just a loop to one another. In order to advance, you must go in the exit to the right.
This part is pretty straightforward. Only one way to go.
Just a quick note about an enemy you might encounter in the next cave. That big green thing called the Adamanchyt has a lot of HP and has very high physical defence, and often will sneeze your characters out of battle if you attack it physically. Instead, use magic attacks on it and it will die quickly.
Head toward the door on the bottom right section of the cave. If you haven't noticed yet, you have company.
It's story time with grandpa again. Now you get to learn all about the magic statues which will play a rather important role in the story soon. But first...
It's time to deal with everybody's favorite Octopus again! Ultros! Just keep fighting him for a couple minutes. You can't kill him, because a cutscene has to take place first.
And, of course, it involves Relm! I think this is my favorite part of the entire game.
You can enjoy the next part for yourself. I've simply included these pictures for those of you out there who've played the game so you can enjoy this lovely little part again.
Back to reality again. In order to end this fight, simply sketch Uncle Ulty's portrait so he can realize he's nothing but a big stupid octopus, something we've discovered three times already.
Head up to the door on the left and you'll enter a room with three drop zones. Go in the two on the left first in order to get some treasures (you'll have to make your way back to the room every time you drop through a hole). Then, once you've done that, drop in the hole in the right.
You'll end up in a room filled with espers! But they don't look too happy...
But then another esper named Yura enters the scene and he and Terra have a battle of magical wits.
Yay! Apologies are exchanged, everyone is happy again. The end. Goodbye.
I'll bet you believed me too. You silly person. Everybody hops into the Garth mobile and heads back to Thamasa where more apologies are exchanged.
But that was far too easy, wasn't it? Of course Kefka has to ruin things again.
After Kefka knocks everyone out and turns the espers to Magicite, you get the one and only chance to play as General Leo. And no, DON'T ask me how to resurrect Leo. It can't be done people! GET OVER IT ALREADY! Anyway, head on up to do battle with Kefka.
Unfortunately, Leo is about as successful as I am getting laid. In other words, Leo is dead in the water.
And so Leo is dead, Kefka kills half the world's population of espers, but for some reason doesn't kill anyone in your group. What a nice guy.
And so the death of Leo is mourned, and it looks like Celes has joined back up in the crew.
And it appears they got Shadow too...or did they? ::cue creepy musical bump thingies::
Despite the rampant murder and slaughter and pillaging, this walkthrough section does end on a happy note, however! It looks like everybody was able to escape the empire safely, much thanks to Edgar's chicanery.
And so I leave with you one of the last Woolsey-isms of the game.
Ultros
HP: 22000 MP: 750
