I Love the Smell of Napalm in the Neighbor's House

Now that you've got the hook ups with old man Strago, you can sleep for free at the inn. In fact, in order to advance to the next part of the story, you have to! Don't bother leveling up or anything. You won't have any problems in the next part.

Reccomended Level: 25

In the middle of the night, Strago will come running to you yelling that Relm is trapped inside a burning building. Locke and Terra head off to help, but Shadow decides he'd rather catch up on his zzz's. What a guy.
What's this? Why, the folks can use magic after all! A ha ha ha, what an unprecedented turn of events. Looks like you have no choice but to go inside the building though. Their magic just can't quell that burning feeling...inside...
Advice of the day: Never Pet a Burning Dog.
There are no random battles here. You can see all of the enemies and avoid them if it suits your fancy. They're not too hard though. Make sure to equip Strago to the max and give him an esper so he can learn some magic. His Lore ability aqua rake is very useful here, but save it for the boss. All you have to do to knock out the little flames is to bash them with weapons.
First go in the door on the right. Then the left.
Now do the opposite.
I'll be completely honest. I forgot which door is which here. Just try them both. One leads to treasure, the other leads to...
the boss.
No problems here. Just use aqua rake to rid yourself of the little ones, then blast his ass with Ice 2 a couple times and he'll be nothin' but a snowball in hell.
Well, after kicking that guy's butt you find Relm hanging out with Interceptor. But it's too late! Or is it?
Enter hero, stage left! Yes folks, that's right, nothing but the immutable, indescribable, impeccably imperceptible Shadow!
Boring story time again. Thanks are exchanged, you know the deal.
And so the tale of the War of the Magi is finally told in detail. Well, perhaps not as much detail as the flashback in Final Fantasy VII (thank god).
After learning about the Magi, Strago decides to come along and be your pal...
but Relm doesn't get to come along. Enjoy this Woolsey-ism. There aren't too many of them left in the game. But it's okay. I'll still be with you to make up for it.

The peasents rejoice

Looks like Shadow isn't coming along either. But you'll be fine. You've got a curmudgeony old man with you, what could possibly go wrong? (Stay tuned to find out what goes wrong)
