Chapters/Missions Welcome back, class. Today's lesson teaches you about the differences between Chapters and Missions. It's very important to note the difference between the two, especially if you will be using the Walkthrough or if you're planning to complete the entire game 100%. This lesson will also teach you of the multiple paths throughout the game; as you may already know, Vanguard Bandits has 5 different endings to seek out! Umm, sir? We're soldiers. What the hell are you talking about? We're soldiers. We don't get to make nifty choices like that; we're stuck serving the military, doomed to a fate of getting our asses kicked, our ATAC stolen... Our necks broken by femme fatales, our bodies bruised and flogged by our superiors, our intelligence insulted by Devlin.. But we chose this fate! They may kick our ass, but they'll never kick our spirit! How inspiring; and at the same time, sickeningly pathetic.
Chapters and Missions The entire game of Vanguard Bandits spans 20 Chapters. Chapters are basically a combination of a story scene, then a preperation screen to save and adjust your team, and finally a battle. Missions, on the other hand, are a little different. There are 56 missions in the game, spread between the three main "branches" of the game; the Kingdom, Empire and Ruin branches. Chapters are made up of missions, and the missions you get depend on the branch you take in the game, or the decisions you make. For example, at the end of Chapter 5, you have a decision to make which will lead you to either Mission 6 or 7. From there, when you reach Chapter 7, you may end up on Mission 8 or 9. Don't let the number of the mission make you think you're skipping ahead far into the game, because the numbers on the missions do not represent how far into the game they are; that's what Chapters are for. If you are confused, the Mission Chart is an excellent place to look to help you understand what all this means. So, basically;
Now, for information on the "branches" in the game. Branches VB is made up of 20 chapters, and 56 missions; this you know. Some of these extra missions are reached by making a decision to perform a certain action storywise (such as heading for Muspel during Mission 5), but they usually make you end up on the same main branch of the game, with a few different circumstances, such as a new character or perhaps a new ATAC. However, certain decisions may lead you on a completely different route through the game, with a much different story and a much different ending. These are the "branches" of the game; titled the Kingdom, Empire and Ruin branches. They have entirely different missions to complete, and will have you battling different enemies, or perhaps even friends. That's the beauty of Vanguard Bandits; you can have Bastion fight for the Kingdom, fight the Kingdom, or take over the Continent for himself! However, if you're seeking out 100%, you'll have to reach and complete EVERY mission through a few playthroughs of Vanguard Bandits. Two of the branches (Kingdom and Empire) have 2 different endings each, depending on the Morale of your party, and both ending missions are considered missions, so you have to reach them both! A good way to cut time on completing all of these missions is to use your save files wisely; save a game before reaching a decision that could lead you to 2 possible missions, then go and complete both of them. But please, please, PLEASE make sure you know how to SAVE PROPERLY , or you could lose hours of work! I want you to enjoy Vanguard Bandits and see all of its story, but I'd hate to have you frustrated and unwilling to complete all of it's missions. So there you are. Every action has a consequence, every decision you make results in an opportunity gained, and an opportunity missed. Not EVERY decision in the game does that, Chief. Just a select few do that; some just change your team's morale, or in some cases, do nothing! I WAS REFERRING TO REAL LIFE, MORON! Oww... I think I broke something inside me! Class... dismissed!
