There's not much use to recipes in this game. You just collect them to get a better rating when the person that rates you comes by. You have to have a kitchen to collect recipes. There are 35 recipes known, but 48 spaces. I personally believe the additional recipes come from people that you don't see often like the Fat Gourmet Guy or the Entymologist.
