Chapter 3: The Paper Hero

Secret Area: Locked Door of Maze Area 1 - Tank Parts, deactivated Radar Killer, two Figure Tokens, and Ultimate Armor Hyper Mode for X.

With the tower back in the Resistance's hands, an opperator is needed to work it. The best of these, Nana, is imprisoned in the Tianna Island POW Camp. This is your next mission, but you might want to go get some items from the Shopping District first.

To get there, take the Air Bus. Once in the South Square, pick up the three Figure Tokens and examine the machine next to them. This is a Action Figure vending machine, and as you get Figure Tokens, you can spend them here. Note that it takes two tokens to get each figure. Afterwards, head through the door to get to the shopping district. Since the area that you'll be heading to is infested with water element type enemies (not to mention the boss, Silver Horn is a water element user), pick up some Water Guard Force Metals (and some extras since you'll be getting a new member in the camp) as well as thunder weapons. Also, pick up some Warm-Ups, since Silver Horn does use Cryogenic, which can freeze your party members. A few Decoy Force Metals don't hurt either, since they automatically revive a character once when they're KO'ed. An Analyzer Force Metal can also be useful if you're trying to steal items from baddies and you need to know if you've got all that the baddie had. One more thing to note. Next to the General Merchant is a teleportation booth. You can use this to go back to areas you've already beaten to look for secrets, gather items you might've missed, or if you have the GCN version, go Treasure Hunting (won't be availble til after the end of this chapter though). Also, if there's a particular area you like to level up at, you can use this to get back to that area as well. When you're done shopping, head back to the base and talk to Chief R to begin your mission.

After a cutscene with Spider grumbling about something, head through the doors to meet up with Steel Massimo (or, as he'll later be known as "Massimo"). Once Massimo joins up with your party, you'll gain the ablity to do the Final Strike. See the section concerning the Final Strike for more information. To the north of where you met Massimo, there is a Save Point. Use it. Keep heading north to get to a lift and take it down. In the next area, you must dodge the security guards' sight indicated by the red waves. If you touch these, you're thrust into a battle, and you'll have to start back at the beginning of this section. You can wait and get the items later once you beat this section, since the security bots will be gone then. Make use of the acloves, since that's where most of the items will be at in this area. In the acloves here, grab the Figure Token and 300z then head east.

The next area is also patrolled by security bots. Move quickly to the aclove north to grab the Figure Token then move quickly to the second aclove. From here, time your movements with the security bot's to get the Decoy Force Metal inside.

The doors in this next area are both patrolled by security bots, but you only need to take the door to the south. If you can make it into the east room, you can snag a Thunder Missile, but it's not worth it if you're not quick enough, since this is one of the easiest places to get caught (believe me. I was caught there a lot. XP). When you get to the next area, take the lift down to get to the Prison Administration Area. Watch out, though, since the random encounters are back. The east door here is locked, so grab the Boost Armor and head on. In the next area, grab the Figure Token at the very end of the hall and head to the south door. Inside here is a switch that unlocks all the prison cells you passed on your way here, so go back to them and collect a Build Speed and a Mega Thunder. Return to the hall and go north.

When you head down the next lift, you are confronted by a trio of guards. The Big Monkey is weak against Thunder, so let it have it with X's Thunder Buster and Thunder Missiles. The Dober Man Reploids will call for backup using SOS, so use this to your advantage to get some extra EXP and Zenny. After the fight, save before you go exploring. Take the door to the north and hit the switch to open the cells. Enter each one to talk to the prisoners. Here's what are in each of them. Be warned that some of the "prisoners" are actually enemies in disguise. Note that I will be going from the first cell to the west, but you can go any way you want.

When you're done here, head back from where you came from and go east. There is a 100 Tank Energy, so grab it if you need it. You'll soon run into a trio of Big Monkeys, so be prepared for this assualt. After the battle, head north and unlock more cells using the control panel. Once again, there are more cells here. If you head into the southeast cell, you'll find another disguised Dober Man. Talk to this one after you defeat it to learn more about the wardern, Silver Horn, as well as Steel Massimo. Here's what's in the other three cells.

The Prisoner's ID will unlock the gate on the west end of the prison, so be prepared and save again.

When you head down the lift here, you enter into Maze Area 1. This can get confusing, so follow the directions here EXACTLY. Head to the northern section of this hallway and get the 50 Tank Energy if you need it. Head to the south part to find a locked door. Make sure to remember this location after you get the Tianna Key, since this is where you'll get X's Ultimate Armor Hyper Mode. See the Getting the Ultimate Armors section for more info. Head back to the north to get a cutscene with Nana and the prison warden, Silver Horn. That's the boss you'll be fighting. After the cutscene ends, head east until you get to the split. Go south to claim the Build Armor and Build Shield. Both of the doors north here lead to the same area, so take either one and head to Maze Area 2. In the next area, take the 50 Tank Energy and head east. The next room has a Warm-Up, Boost Power, and Tomahawk. Take the north door.

Take the lift to get to the short hallway to make it to the Dark Room. This is where Nana is captive at, so you'll have to defeat the trio of guards before you can talk to her. Thankfully, the Preon Pod is weak against Thunder attacks, so wail on it with X's Thunder Buster and Thunder Missiles. Have the other two take down the two Preon Sparks. Watch out for the Preon Pod's launching sequence (you'll see a notice about it as well). If you hit it with a strong attack, it will knock it out of its launching sequence. Once the three guards are down, talk to Nana. You'll get a cutscene with Massimo and Nana. Nana says that Massimo was executed days ago. Hmmm... The mystery thickens as to who the "Massimo" is with you, but you'll find out shortly. Nana will also stay in the Dark Room to keep Silver Horn from becoming suspecious about what's going on.

After talking to Nana, head south. You'll reach a Save Point and a 50 Tank Energy. Save your game and head into the next door. It's time to play a little Simon with Nana. See the red and blue panels on the floor here? Nana will give you the correct code to open the door, so watch which ones light up and follow what she did. However, take note that if you hit the wrong sequence that you'll trigger a battle, so be careful.

You're now in the Security Area. There's some more of those colored panels, and two doors, but as you might've guessed, you'll need two codes to get into both doors. Nana will give you the first code (first in this chart), but the second code isn't given to you... until now.

Head through the door to reach the next area.

In this next area, the lights blink a whole lot faster, so you'll have to be quick to note the sequence. Also, take note of the gem here. No matter how many times you dash into it, it won't break. This is because it has a force shield around it, and to disable it, you'll need a code to unlock it and get the prize. Here's the next set of codes.

Take the door south to get to a four panel security system. There's another locked gem and another door, so here's the codes.

Door to the Deep Prison

Now, head to the Deep Prison area. There is a Save Point here, so use it. Talk to the guards and head to the locked door. You'll have to wait for Nana to unlock the door. Meanwhile, Massimo will slip away, and you'll get a cutscene.

Once it cuts back to Spider and X, use the lift to get down to the next area and Massimo. Once Massimo is back in your party, you'll hear Nana scream. Seems like she's been found out by Silver Horn, so it's time for X and the crew to rescue her. Head back to the unlocked door and collect a Gain Hyper and a 100 Tank Energy. Save before you go through those large doors as well, and make sure you're prepared. If you're not, go back to New Hope to get what you need. When you're set, head into the Aqua Coliseum.

When the party gets into the Coliseum, they see Silver Horn and a downed Nana. Silver Horn talks about how Nana's been a bad girl and how she must be punished. He also taunts about all the prisoners he destroyed and laughs. This gets on Massimo's nerves, so now it's time to put this cruel wardern away!

*WARNING!* Silver Horn

Silver Horn is big and nasty. He also packs quite a whallop when he hits, so be ready for that. He also uses Water-based attacks, so I hope you took my suggestion and loaded everyone up with Water Guard Force Metals. The three main attacks you should watch out for are Cryogenics, which'll freeze up characters and make them more vunerable to attack (and skips them til they're unfrozen), Tidal Wave (hits all and reduces LE by 50%), and Pressure Abyss (a critical shot at +20% more power). Be wary once you get him down to 50% LE, since then he will use Liquid Coating. Not only does this make him tougher to take him down, it also reduces all attacks (including item attacks) by 25%-50%! If you've been saving up your Hyper Modes, this is the time to use 'em.

How to beat him: Silver Horn's weak against Thunder, so X should have two Thunder Missiles and a Thunder Buster on him. For Spider, make sure he has at least one Thunder Missile and his Item Capture on him. He'll be a healer, but that doesn't mean he can't do some damage. For Massimo, he should also have two Thunder Missiles. Pelt Silver Horn with X's Thunder Missiles and Thunder Buster. Wait til he's at 100% WE before unleashing a Charge Shot. When you get enough WE on Massimo, have him use his Beserk Charge. Spider should concentrate on healing the party as well as using Ultra Thunders once he manages to steal both of Silver Horn's items. If a character gets frozen by Cryogenics, IMMEDIATELY use a Warm-Up. Keep this up until you see that Silver Horn is using his Liquid Coating. NOW use the Hyper Modes to really start packing a wallop. Trust me when I say this, since X's Charge Collider does INSANE amounts of damage when it's at 100%. If you get lucky, you MIGHT even get to finish off Silver Horn with a Final Strike, so be ready for that as well. Once Silver Horn is down, you'll get an Ice Buster and a Build Hyper.

Note: If you come back here before the next mission begins, you'll find a Blowfish. However, it needs a Mini Battery to work, so make sure when you get one to come back here and pick it up.
