Dormant Abilities: Reflect Attack, Chivalry, Mental Vision, Mass Menace
Important Battlefield Events:
- Once you defeat an opponent, the next opponent will appear in the designated spot. If Bastion loses at any time, the mission is completed, as well as if Bastion defeats all 5 opponents.
- When Bastion gets Andrew down to critical HP, Bastion's mood changes to happy, increasing his DEX.
Strategy
Despite being the toughest soldiers on the Continent (not my words), Dionne's men aren't all that tough. The first two opponents are incredibly easy to topple, whereas the third one only puts up a bit of a fight. You'll actually find yourself getting 2 turns in a row against them!
The biggest problem in this mission has to do with your FP. Bastion, being the only team member on the battlefield, will get dizzy fairly easily. The best option is to take the battles slow; attack once from behind, then if you get another turn, hide somewhere and rest. Your opponent will chase you down, but usually won't even reach you. This should easily get you through the first 3 opponents.
Opponents 4 and 5, however, don't fool around. Perhaps you will be able to make it past Andrew, but his speed and evasion are so high that you will have a great deal of trouble hitting him. And after him lies the incredibly powerful Marquis Dionne. Beating everyone will result in a lot of extra cash for Bastion and an INCREDIBLE morale boost, but it's not easy to do... unless you cheat.
Want to cheat? Then take the battle even slower than usual and make use of the in-mission save. Save before every one of your turns, and move behind your enemies and attack with something like Fireball or Str. Slash. After a successful hit and a failed hit by the enemy, save your game. If you mess up, reload your save. If you do this, you will eventually (it takes quite a while) win the mission, with nary a scratch.
Now that the mission is complete..
- Dionne joins your team for 1 mission as a CPU controlled ally
- If you made it to Andrew, Dionne gives you a Flaros ATAC after the next mission.
- You move on to Mission 10
Before beginning Mission 10, do the usual jazz; load stats, interview, briefing. When you're ready, head to Mission 10: Radcot's Trap.
