Barlow and Devlin don't actually descend from their spot for a turn. Alden and Melior will stay perched for a bit, though. Therefore, it's best to get into a good position as soon as you can. I suggest grouping up near the bush where you start, with Bastion in the middle, of course. From there, let the Nordilians come to you. Deal with Devlin first; his attack power is incredible, and he has the Burning Soul attack. Take it slow but steady; wear down the Nordilians and boost their FP with Turbulence, then hit them hard. Every enemy on the battlefield aside from Devlin is high in DEF.
The beautiful part about this formation is that the Nordilians will have trouble reaching you. You may need to cover your back on the southern side though, but it shouldn't be much of a problem, as the Nordilians that will attack aren't very powerful. With this formation, Devlin coudn't actually get in range to hit me, and didn't bother trying to walk around and hit me from the opposite side.
Be careful though... Alden WILL approach you from behind. Commit one of your characters to holding him off (I suggest Franco), and concentrate on taking down Devlin, Melior and the Hibernians first. Or you could have Claire and Bastion work together to take him down, with Bastion using Lightning Strike to boost up his FP and having Claire use Flare Bomb when he's down.
Remember, you are bunched up for a reason. Heal whenever someone's HP runs low, either with Bastion or Halak. Keep your HP up, and eliminate the hard hitters first, especially the lower-defense Devlin. Don't let anyone get dizzy, and you'll pull through this mission. Strangely enough, Barlow will probably be the last opponent you will take down. This is due to his DEF stat. Once he's alone though, he's no problem.
By the way, if you're wondering why the first portrait looks like that, it's an inside joke. If you get it, email me and I'll congratulate you!
Now that the mission is complete..
- You move on to Mission 40
Before beginning Mission 40, save, load stats from Options screen and then Interview. Check the Briefing for an incredibly misleading overview of what's next, and when you're ready, head to Mission 40: Zulwarn's Breath.
