Dormant Abilities: Reflect Attack, Chivalry, Mass Menace, Forest Motion
Important Battlefield Events:
- When Logan is hit down to 50% of his HP, he retreats from battle.
Strategy
Your first encounter with Duke Logan is a fairly short one, and you don't even have to knock out all his HP to beat him (though I suggest you TRY to). Regardless, his POW stat is maxed out at 32, making him incredibly damaging.
In retrospect, he's just a really pumped up Nordilian soldier. He attacks agressively, counterattacks with massive Fire-stone powered attacks, but unlike his soldiers, he has high defense. He is your major worry in this battle, but there is a neat little way to get this mission off on the right start. First, move Andrew all the way up to the "central bush" as indicated in the screenshot. Move the rest of your characters up to him, with Bastion in the center if possible. Duke Logan and Claire will usually approach from the right and attack the first thing they see, namely Andrew, who has a ridiculously high evasion stat. Logan and Claire will likely miss!
Now, launch your attacks on Logan, worrying not about the Nordilians. Use Turbulence from a distance, or have Alden attack with a close range attack. Logan will counter anything within 2 range, but this will boost his FP up greatly, possibly dizzying him. Make sure you reduce his HP to near-half, as Logan has surprisingly high defense, and you might not be able to kill him when he's dizzied with one attack (unless you have Soaring Dance for Bastion, which you should). All you need to do now is bump him off, and you get lots of EXP and money!
You might want to deal with Claire and the Nordilians first though, and that's okay too. Just keep in mind that you will have to face the wrath of Logan using his uber-powerful attacks on you every turn.
Now that the mission is complete..
- You VERY QUICKLY move on to Mission 20
Before beginning Mission 20, save your game and load stats from the Options screen, and head to the Interview screen, cheering up any sad faces. Hopefully you've been doing this after every mission, or you just might have to settle for the bad ending. Check the Briefing for an overview of what's next, and when you're ready, head to Mission 20: Warrior of Honor.
