Gears

Note: Chu-Chu has only 1 Giant skill, which is Forest Dance (recovers some gear HP) and Siebzehn has no skills.

About Omnigears: All gears (except for Chu-Chu, Crescens, Siebzehn, and Vierge) will get an Omnigear (a stronger version of the original gear) at a certain point in the game, but the only actual difference is in terms of equipment and some extra options in Weltall-2's case, which is not an Omnigear, but an upgrade over Weltall (Xenogears is Fei's "Omnigear"). You can still use the same equipment and skills.

Weltall

Weltall is a fast, overall strong gear and casts some powerful Chi attacks (you'll usually prefer Vierge or Crescens, but there are some cases where Weltall may be your only option). You don't have much of an option about using him or not, so get used to Weltall.

Vierge

Vierge is surprisingly fast in comparison to Elly, and works really well against groups of enemies (whether by using Aerods or casting Ethers). Vierge lacks strength and HP, though. Also, many of Vierge's Rods cast elemental or status damage, so make sure to try all of them.

Heimdal

Heimdal is quite similar to Citan: fast (not so fast compared to other gears, but still quite good) and strong (especially after you equip it with a sword). Casts basically the same support Ethers Citan does.

Renmazuo

An average gear, except for the fact that it has a high hit rate and can use Ether Bullets with the Square button, making battles against monsters weak vs. Ether a sinch. His defensive Ethers aren't nearly as useful as Billy's, though. Has some useful extra options.

Siebzehn

The only reason Maria joined your party. Basically the same advantages and disadvantages of Stier, except that this one's so powerful that it doesn't even need an Omnigear. Has some powerful special options, too.

Chu-Chu

As much as I'd hate to admit, the pink fuzzy critter can be quite good in its giant form. Her skill that heals gear's HP isn't that helpful later in the game, but if you give her lots of drives (mainly HP and STR drives), her giant form will proportially increase her HP and Strength reaching a whopping 49950 HP! Also, it's a given that not having fuel to waste can be quite an advantage, too.
