Stage
6: Eruza
|
If you've reached this point
without
using any continues, you'll enter a hidden dimension, where the Reaper
will ask you some questions. Answer them as follows to continue:
Have you ever felt fear when facing an enemy: No
Have you ever reached the limit of your power: No
Do you have confidence that you will never be defeated: Yes
After answering them, the Reaper will appear and challenge you to a
fight.
|
Attribute: Normal/Silhouette
Life: 1000
Spirit: 1000
Credits: 524
The Reaper is one of the game's toughest bosses, especially if you're
low on Life and Spirit from the Megido fight. He's quick, and
many of his attacks are powerful enough to send you to the continue
screen in two or three hits.
The trick to beating the Reaper is to know how to counter each of his
attacks. He'll begin by dashing back and forth across the screen
in
his chariot while Normal Attribute. You won't be able to harm
him, so
just use your Reflect Attack to block his chariot.
|
|
|
When he hops off his chariot,
he'll
use a variety of attacks The worst of these his his energy slash,
which will often kill you in one hit if you're unlucky enough to get
caught by it. Stay on the top tier and Reflect it. If you're on
the bottom, jump up before using the Reflect Attack, else you'll be
bounced around by the waves and suffer some Normal damage.
|
He'll also utilize an attack
called
Soul Stealer, where he whirls his scythe around above his head and
gathers energy before firing a flurry of shots at you. He's
Normal attribute while doing this, so you won't be able to hurt
him. Get against the wall and use your Reflect attack. If
you're lucky, he'll lower his shield as you deflect the last of the
shots and take some damage as they fly back toward him.
He'll also utilize a large energy wave, which splits into many and fans
out as it strikes the opposite wall. If you're quick enough to
Reflect the shot before it splits, it will do significant damage to the
Reaper. Else, just try to get out of the way.
|
|
|
Finally, he'll utilize his
Scythe,
which does Normal damage and can drop your life at an amazing
rate. Fortunately, it's fairly easy to dodge if you see it
coming. To do so, move to the tier the Reaper is not on as he
tosses
it. From there, dash to the opposite end of the screen and hop
back to the other tier, as the Reaper will fly to the opposite tear and
recall his scythe, which will catch you if you're in the
way. If you're unlucky enough to be caught by the Scythe, you can
sometimes get away before you die by triple-jumping to one side.
Once you defeat the Reaper, he'll say his piece, and then you'll move
on to Stage 6.

After a bit of dialog where
Gehena
confirms that you're not yet in Edo, you'll move on. Just to the
right are a few Polly Peepers. They're nothing you shouldn't be
able to handle by now. Defeat them and head up the ramp to a shop.
From there, head up again to find an area with several Pollies and two
giant walkers. This fight can take a while, since you'll probably
have to dodge both Silhouette and Mirage shots at the same time while
waiting for them to use their machine guns. Still, nothing too
tough.
|
|
|
Cruise
up the next slope to find a couple more Pollies and another shop.
Continue down to a group of flying Pollies and Specters. Blast
them all, then continue on.
Now, on the last stretch the ceiling will start falling. Getting
hit will inflict some Normal damage, so dodge the falling debris to the
best of your ability and head right.

One last shop here. Buy
what you need, it will be the last shop you
encounter for a long while. Then continue right to meet
Hal. In
hologram form, that is.
Hal will tell you his true name (Har), and will then mention that the
Attribute experiments were conducted in Eruza by the rulers of
Edo.
The released energy was powerful enough to mutate every being on earth,
turning them into the beings the experiments sought to create and
control. He'll then send his latest creation after you, a beast
named Gargantuan.

Attribute: Silhouette / Mirage
Life: 300
Spirit: 500
Credits: 0
Gargantuan isn't all that dangerous, actually. He'll utilize a
large
energy ball that splits into several small bursts and a large energy
wave, but both are easy to avoid and will lower Gargantuan's Spirit to
boot, making him less likely to counterattack for a while. The
trick here lies in the Pollies and Specters. |
Basically, Gargantuan will
grab Pollies and Specters in its claws, and
put them into its tank. After a while it will crush them and
absorb
energy if they're of the same attribute as it. If they're of the
opposite attribute, he'll take damage. So you'll want to stay on
one
side and blast the enemies until Gargantuan can only grab up
opposite-attribute creatures.
After each crush cycle, it will switch attribute. Change your
strategy accordingly. |
|
|
Once he's defeated, Har will
converse with Shyna for a bit,
and then Zohar will drag Shyna into the core of Eruza, which is about
to go sky-high.

The last fight with
Zohar. Unfortunately, it's the toughest of the three.
Attribute: Silhouette / Mirage
Life: 1000
Spirit: 1000
Credits: 250
This battle is pretty similar to the last time, with the exception of
one very irritating new attack: the mirror balls. Sandalphon will
toss out a flurry of spheres that will deflect Mirage-attribute
shots. These can be especially hellish when combined with a
switch to Silhouette attribute, or a flurry of lightning chains.
Envia will be helpful here, since it cannot be reflected by the balls.
This time you'll have to duel Zohar to the end. When
Zohar's life hits zero or time runs out, the battle will end.
Where you go next depends upon which of the above happened.
