This guy is pretty strong, but anything that resists darkness is very useful against him. My personal technique is to bring an elixir or 2 and to keep hitting. There's really nowhere you can go in this fight. You just have to tough it out. You'll find him in the room where you fight Shaft in the inverted Castle, the castle's center.
