After the opening sequence, your first task is to reach Carbo to meet that certain church
person who is asking for your services as a Geohound. Some items are skillfully hidden besides
and under trees, so pay attention. :P There is only a single possible way to go; just follow
the road and you will eventually reach the village. On your path, there is a Save Point (yes,
colorful prisms are Save Points) which allows you to fully recover if needed to.
Where's my Paycheck?
Hatman: Beginning Tutorial
As soon as you enter the village, you witness young women discussing about a
special exorcising ceremony they must conduct at some tower (known as Garmia Tower). They
all leave except one, Elena, who must go back to the Church of Granas to sing for the service.
Apparently, they are Granas Sisters and their purpose in life is to get rid of Evil. Elena
seems to be the most important because she is a Songstress and possesses the abililty to chase away evilness
with her holy voice. You are free to walk around Carbo as you wish. Believe it or not, the compass is even
more helpful in villages, so use it. Go to the church to meet Elena and Father Carius. The latter asks you
to wait for him at the Inn. There, he convinces you to escort Elena to Garmia Tower
(you must cross a dark forest infested by four monsters to reach that place). Despite the Songstress' obvious
disdain for Geohounds, she follows you (I REALLY wonder if you are ever going to get along!).
Do not forget to talk to Hatman in the General Store if the battle system is unknown to you. Then,
exit the village and head for the Black Forest.

The Black Forest is very small. I did not lie when I said there were only four monsters
prowling through it. On your way, the four of them savagely attack you without notice. Do not even think
about escaping. If you can not see the items listed up there, you probably need glasses. :P

First and third floors |
The other Sisters are waiting for Elena in front of the Tower. They forbid you to follow them
because they do not want perverts to attend their ceremony. While Skye and yourself are slowly
discussing about various subjects, you are interrupted by a horrible feminine scream.
You rush into the Tower even though you had been strictly forbidden to and discover,
with much stupefaction, that the place is crawling with monsters (who would have thought). The
Tower has four floors. The first and third ones are shaped like hexagons, whereas the second one
simply consists of a long bridge. Pick up the few treasures that lie around on each floor and
fight some monsters. That way, it will give you the opportunity to become more familiar with
the battle system, if you are not already, and the compass. On the fourth floor, Elena seems
to be in trouble and therefore, must be saved. Helped by the cool and powerful Skye, you
escape this dreaded place, holding an unconscious Elena.
Now What? Back to Carbo
After some time spent lying on the soil of the Black Forest, Elena comes back to her senses. She is
shocked, but aware that you must return to Carbo to get more explanations from Carius. He
tells you that: Valmar's return is near (classic), Valmar's Moon is rising (obviously),
Elena may be possessed by Valmar and only the Pope Zera Innocentius has the knowledge to
cure her. Carius asks you to accompany Elena to the Granas Cathedral and this time, he successfully
convinces you with a... golden statue! As the young girl recovers in her room, a strange woman with red hair,
black wings and an un-protective outfit appears and engages in a fight with you. She kicks your
ass, literally (it is normal to lose), and flees. When Elena feels better, she has no choice but
to follow you. At this point, you can spend the night at the Inn before heading for Inor Mountains
to have a cute conversation with the Sister. If you checked Elena's equipment, you should know that she
already has the Holy Egg. You can also get your first Poff Nut before leaving the village, dun dun duuuunn!
Go and talk to Lenny, the little boy who was crying for Elena earlier. She will explain to him why she has to
leave and he will give her a Poff Nut as a farewell present. Only in Durham Cave will you understand the
purpose of the Poff Nut...

Inor Mountains 1 |
The base of Inor Mountains is constituted of green plains sprinkled with firs and giant orange
mushrooms. Hit all those mushrooms because some contain items (but others, Crag Snakes). When you
are done, head for the mountains entrance. On Inor Mountains 2, Elena is exhausted
and you decide to camp for the night in your badass tent. Unfortunately, you wasted your time
to set it as nobody even sleeps in it. The next day, continue your peaceful walk through
the mountains. There are wooden planks supporting three boulders attached by ropes on the sides
of the road. The ropes mysteriously yield when you come near them. It gives you the opportunity to
reach the exit (simply follow the road) to the next village, Agear.
Agear: Little Boys Should Stay at Home
Hatman: Beginning and Intermediate Tutorials
Agear has almost been completely destroyed by monsters living in a cave south of town. Therefore,
the road has been blocked to all travelers because it is too dangerous. Go to the Inn and talk to Vyx,
the innkeeper (one of your old acquaintances). A lot of new people are in there, including Roan, a
little boy who is asking dubious circus characters to help him find his lost medal. He says that
monsters have stolen it and brought it back to their cave. Seeing you are a Geohound, Roan requests
your help, but you are too selfish to accept... for now. Elena gets drunk with some weird food and
you retire to your room, hoping to spend the night killing monsters in that cave, alone. But no!
Millenia suddenly barges in to make you hers. However, she does not succeed to, because
somebody knocks on the door at the appropriate moment to tell you that Roan has left for
the cave (Durham Cave) and might be in danger. Since you were supposed to go there anyway,
you propose to rescue him and Millenia insists to follow you. Note that she is equipped with the Chaos
Egg.

Durham Cave 1 and 2 |
Durham Cave 1: Soon after the Save Point, you can see Carro playing around. It is a
little animal that likes Poff Nuts. It does not play a major role in that cave (or in the game),
but if you bring it three nuts, you will be able to use its ugly tail as a lamp.
You will find two nuts in the cave and with the one you already got from Lenny in Carbo (if you
followed this walkthrough *cough*), you should theoretically be able to feed the little animal.
I never tried, though, so I can not state with certainty that it works. :P The main room has
a lever in the middle (see the picture) which serves to move up and down two bridges (also seen
on the picture). You must use this mechanism, obviously, to get to the next part of the cave. Nothing too
complicated to figure out, I assure you.
Durham Cave 2: Roan is there, but he is being attacked by Troglodytes. Defeat them to
receive your third Mana Egg, the Mist Egg (and to save Roan, but the egg is more interesting :P).
Then, head right, kill monsters and walk until you reach a big box standing across your path.
There are three steel doors that can be opened: the right one by simply stepping on the switch
beside the box, the two others by pushing that box (it automatically slides on the correct
switch). The middle door leads to a lever which purpose is to drain the water from the nearby lake.
On the other side, there is a small river (you need to pull another lever to move the bridge) and a
second Save Point. Yo, save and go on the meet the cute boss.
Durham Cave Depths: The Minotaur is stupidly standing there, accompanied by two Troglodytes,
waiting for you. The fight is pretty easy. You can eliminate the boss' friends right at the beginning
or not, it does not really matter. Zap! and Fallen Wings from Millenia should take care of them. Just
use your moves to cancel the Minotaur's attacks and you will be fine. After the battle, you get Roan's Medal
and the Adventure Book. --Upgrade the skills and equip them. They make a difference. Life Up
is great.-- There is no magical teleportation to the entrance of the cave. So, you must walk all the
way back to the entrance yourself. :P
Before Leaving Agear (Contains SPOILER)
**SPOILER. Go play the game past this point if you do not want everything to be ruined. :P That spoiler
must be said because it constantly pops up in the rest of the game/walkthrough.** Once outside the cave,
Millenia kneels down and changes into Elena. Yeah, she is the uninhibited evil version of Elena, the
Wings of Valmar! Everybody is surprised, to say the least, but there is no point in losing more time
discussing about it in Agear (eat and rest at the Inn for more details). Leave for the Baked Plains through
the door next to Durham Cave.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Never forget to re-equip Elena/Millenia's Mana
Eggs, accessories and skills when they "switch". You WILL forget once or more, I am sure. :P

Baked Plains 1 and 3 |
The plains are much like Inor Mountains. You can not get lost with the compass. The smoke jets
(they look like geysers) coming out of the rock walls and ground in various locations inflict damage.
A lot of treasures, mainly seeds, are hanging in the little trees. You can break all the cone-shaped
rocks, but none of them hide special prizes. Right after the Save Point in Baked Plains 3, you
finally reach the Granacliffs. The only way to cross them is by using the Skyway (some cablecar-like
vehicle). You decide to camp in the plains before heading for the nearest city, Liligue. In the night, a
Beast-Man impertinently wakes you up to beat the crap out of you because you stink. He hits hard, but
only on you (Ryudo). So, heal yourself or whatever and cancel the Beast-Man's attacks when you can. Do
not die because he will not say "Oops, I made a mistake. I'll leave you alone now." After the combat,
the monster introduces himself as being called Mareg and leaves because, heh, he attacked the wrong guy.
You can now go to Liligue in complete tranquillity.
Liligue and Those Greedy Engineers!
Hatman: Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Tutorials
Liligue looks like a confusing city full of colors and odd houses. The doors to the main part of
the town are closed, so you only have access to the Inn and the General Store. Sleep at the Inn
and eat some disgusting "delicacy". The next day, the doors are opened. By talking to the townspeople,
you learn that all of them are strangely cursed: they have lost their sense of taste and can only eat
arum root. All, except Gadan, the Skyway manager. Moreover, nobody is allowed to use the Skyway. Visit
Gadan at his house. Apparently, he has no problem to eat normal food and is enjoying it. He accepts to
let you aboard the Skyway (not today, but tomorrow), if you give him 10 000G. In the meantime, go to the
Church. The Father explains you that Liligue has been built on the ruins of an ancient Granas Temple.
There is an entrance to the underground remnants of the ruins near the mansion of Gadan and with your
incredible intuition, you suspect Valmar's doing behind all that. Head for the entrance of the cave and
recruit Mareg on your way. Oh, and the town is full of engineers hungry for money! Pffft. Predjudices. :P

Liligue Cave 1 - Part 1 and Liligue Cave 3 |
Liligue Cave 1 - Part 1: This part may seem like a maze at first, but it really is not
that hard to find your way with the compass. All paths lead to treasures or the exit. If you really
need to get to the exit fast, here is the pattern to follow, given in a perfectly non-aesthetical
but efficient way: right, right, left, left, right and left (one direction per crossroad).
Liligue Cave 2 - Part 1: It should not even be mentioned in the walkthrough. :P There is only
a treasure and a few monsters. That is all. Cross to the other side.
Liligue Cave 1 - Part 2: This place is similar to the first part of the cave. The exit can be
found by going: left, then right.
Liligue Cave 2 - Part 2: Go left and continue until you reach some kind of altar. Climb
it and hit the switch. The path is blocked, but a message carved on the big stone says that a door
will open if you light up all the colored... candlesticks?! I REALLY have NO idea why "they" talk about
candlesticks. They are orbs! Not candlesticks. Anyway, hitting that switch opened two doors in the
corridor leading to the altar. The left door is connected to the blue orb. The right one leads to
the green orb. Once the latter is activated, take the corridor on the other side of the room. It is
the passage to go to the red orb. To reach it, you must push the box that is not aligned with
the other two. If you want the nut behind the boxes, go out of the room and come back. The box you
pushed earlier will be back at its previous location. When the three orbs are activated, walk all the way
back to the altar room and hit where the "!" appears. A door will open.
Liligue Cave 3: Save and head for the Caverns.
Liligue Caverns: A Seal of Lord Granas, like the one you have seen in Garmia Tower, is in
the center of the room and is broken. It does not take long before you meet what WAS sealed: a
hideous monster that swallows Elena as soon as it sees her. Millenia pops back out and scares away
the creature. Follow it to the Temple Ruins.
Temple Ruins: This thing is the Tongue of Valmar. It is not a very difficult fight. You
must destroy Valmar's Tongue to win and you can do it without killing the other body parts first.
Make sure to heal your party (preferably with Roan) and use your strongest moves in association
with the skills learned from the Adventure Book. Hopefully, Millenia will go berserk and help you
a lot. After the battle, you gain: the Ancient Cuirass, the Book of Wizards, a Revival Gem and
the move Starving Tongue for Millenia.
The Skyway and Those Bad Engineers!
You are back in the mansion of Gadan with Elena, but there is nothing you can do for the fat man. Do
whatever you want in the town (like resting at the Inn) and take the Skyway. The interior is rather weird,
clearly unmanaged for passengers. While having a little discussion between friends, the skies suddenly
darken, Valmar's Moon glows brightly, a windstorm rises and the wires, on which the cabin is rolling,
break. Grah! What kind of engineers forget to test the system under heavy atmospheric conditions? :P
You all wake up on the other side of the Granacliffs, surprisingly, not dead. Elena is not around, though,
but Mareg uses his smelling abilities to find her.
