Treasure Chests

Wild ARMs 3 smiles down upon treasure hunters by giving them plenty of treasure to hunt, and it seems that every location in the game has plenty of items to find and claim for yourselves. In addition to the small stuff you'll find stashed away in barrels, crates or.... animals..., there are 320 treasure chests hidden throughout Filgaia in various places.

Now, it's needless to say that you want to find these chests because they have cool things in them that are just begging to jump into your Inventory. But there is another reason to find all of the chests; should you seek out and open them all, a hidden boss fight will be revealed, and if you defeat this hidden boss, you will obtain an EX File Key! Imagine that! A crapload of items, a ton of EXP from the hidden boss, and an EX File Key!

But finding all 320 of these chests isn't easy. Not at all! That is why I have put together this list of every chest in the game. I have ordered the chests in the order of dungeons, then towns (some towns have chests), then Millenium Puzzles, and I have grouped the chests by location and then room. Scroll down and see for yourself! Note that treasures that require a later visit to a dungeon are in yellow font with the requirements needed to get the chests, and ones that require a Duplicator to open will have DUPLICATOR REQUIRED TO OPEN or DUPLICATOR DOOR in the descriptions. If you've made it through the game on your own and are just looking for all the chests, then good news! Activate the "Tracker" item won from Millenium Puzzle 10, and check the bottom-right corner of the screen. See the number there? Match that number up with the one listed under "Tracker" in the table and you'll find the chests right there in that room!

If you've missed a few, worry not; there are actually only 3 or 4 that can be permanently missed.

What I would suggest is that you either use this as a checklist, leaving it on in a separate browser window while you play, or print yourself off a copy, crossing off stuff as you go through the game. This is a good idea if you are missing some chests and want to pinpoint what ones you are missing. If you leave it on, make note of what chests you opened when you take a break from the game.

Boss' Attacks: Gimmick Hand (physical attack to one, also used as a counterattack to any physical attacks), Screaming Mad (darkness elemental magic damage to one target, also used as a counterattack for arcana that isn't of Light or Dark element), Phantom Hazard (darkness elemental magic damage to all team members, used as a counterattack for light elemental arcana attacks),
How To Win: Think of Black Box as a souped-up Mimic that learned some attack magic along the way. Unless, of course, you have all of your characters with the Dark Ward Personal Skill set up to full. With Dark Ward fully activated, this boss will only be able to hurt you with Gimmick Hand, and that can very easily be healed. Notice that Black Box has an obscenely high EXP amount. With Dark Wards, you can gain quite a bit of EXP in this fight with a simple trick. Activate everyone's Dark Ward skill to full, and Mystic a Lucky Card and use a Gella Card on the first turn. On the second turn, have everyone use a Light Gem on Black Box (assuming you have a large collection of them. If you don't, head to the Fila Del Fia crater and summon Stare Roe on the Dust Men). Every turn, you will hit Black Box for miniscule damage, but that's not the point. Every time you do this, he will counterattack with Phantom Hazard, increasing each of your team member's EXP multiplier by .4 a turn! Continue this for approximitely 22 turns, and you'll have earned a 9.9 multiplier... that's 1346400 EXP! Of course, actually defeating Black Box is a different matter altogether. It's very easy. At this point in the game, you can easily take him down with a few Finest Arts and Spectre spells. If you have Full Carrots to spare, use them after a character has performed Finest Arts to allow them to do it again quickly (make sure NOT to reload!) Then enjoy the EXP, Gella and EX File Key... you've certainly earned them!
