Ok, for this Map, the towns are labled as numbers, and other locations as letters. I have also found the location of all the Torii gates, and I've made the gates that can be used in conjunction with the sand purple. Also I've labled the country names in orange.
Yes, I know it's a pretty crappy map, but to my defense, I didn't really make it. If you look at the status screen, you will see a small map in the upper right corner. This map is that map, but blown up (and without Musashi and Tanuki in the way). So basically, all you have is a blob with dots...well at least I labled everything. You won't be able to use this map and get exact directions, but at least you know the general area of everything... And I know there's no map of Ganryu Island, but I'll describe how this map would portray it: there would be a large green blob. In the upper left would be a place representing the cave, upper right would be Tatsuno, and lower left would be Kojiro's Castle.
