(Automated Sequence)
Several Polly Peepers rush up the side of the Shelter as Shyna emerges
above. Shyna is struck by a stray shot and knocked backward as
she begins to ride the elevator down to the ground. Shyna leaps
off the elevator just in time as a second shot destroys it. The
Polly Peepers flee, with the exception of one, who is plastered by the
falling elevator.

This leads right into the first fight of the
game, against several
Polly Peepers. They only attack two at a time, so this is a good
chance to get used to the game mechanics and practice your moves.
Cash Bash all of the Pollies, then finish them off with Silhouette
shots.
|
Just to the right is a slope, three Polly
Peepers will await on
small metal platforms behind machine guns (which fire Mirage-attribute
shots). Cash-Bash them and head up the slopes.

Here you'll find the first shop of the
game. Buy some Parasites if you wish, then move on.
|
The final fight of Stage 1-1, against more
Polly Peepers. Drain them all, Cash-Bash them, then eliminate
them to move on.

(Automated Sequence)
A large walker robot, piloted by a Polly Peeper, lands in front of
Shyna, knocking her and several nearby Pollies around. As it
prepares to fire, a second one crashes down, causing the ground beneath
Shyna to collapse and dump her into a cave.

One of the walkers follows Shyna down into the cave. Its chase is
soon cut short when it is smashed with a spiked log and
destroyed. Shortly thereafter, several Specters appear and attack
Shyna.

The Specters aren't much
different from Polly
Peepers, but they are Silhouette attribute, so you'll want to use
Silhouette shots to drain their Spirit and Mirage shots to finish
them. Cash Bash this group and move on.
|
Just after this point is a
slope leading up
the wall. Dash up it and you'll come to this point. From
here, dash up the left wall and continue along the ceiling to find the
hidden shop which sells the Level 6 Surosa. I'd highly recommend
buying it.

Drop down from there and
you'll find several
more Specters. At this point they'll begin using their "U-Turn"
sign, which will deflect shots back much like Shyna's Reflect
Attack. So be sure not to shoot at them while it's up.
This group of Specters will also regenerate if you destroy them all,
hop up onto the ledge near the Surosa shop, then come back, so use the
opportunity to build up at least 1000 Credits. It won't take
long, trust me.

Continuing to the right and
down a cliff,
you'll find several more Specters to Cash-Bash, and a spiked log trap
(inflicts Normal damage) which you can slide or crawl under. Up
another two slopes is a shop, followed by a second onslaught from some
Specters crawling on the ceiling. You can knock them down by
draining their Spirit. Repeat the Cash Bash / Mirage Shot routine
and continue on.
After a short automated sequence and some dialog, you'll meet the first
boss of the game, Grigg.

Jump
as soon as you are able, since he often begins with his tongue-spear
attack, which does significant damage. His other attacks include
using his mohawk as a boomerang (which you can Reflect) and spinning
around on the large spiked log, which is followed shortly by a barf
attack (lovely). Both are easy to avoid, and the latter can be
Reflected.

After Grigg is defeated, the
other walker you avoided earlier will crash in. You'll have to
fight it this time.

This
isn't very tough. You won't be able to harm the walker with
Parasite
attacks, since it's Normal attribute. Just stick around and avoid
its attacks
until it uses its machine gun, then use your Reflect Attack to bounce
its shots back and damage it. Repeat this two or three times
until the mech's destroyed. You can also push it back with
Parasite shots and knock it off the small ledge to damage it.

The last part of this stage is
pretty
straightforward. Just continue to the left. You can hop
over to the left edge of the ravine to find a shop selling Level 6
Priday, or you can simply drop down to find the next boss, Bug.

Bug is a bit tougher than Grigg, as he's tougher to hit (he can fly,
after all) and has a few pretty lethal attacks. Most notable of
these are his Energy Spring, which does normal damage but can be
deflected, Summon Avalanche, which does normal damage and is tricky
to avoid (Crouch-Dash up the wall and stay above the rain of boulders
to avoid it) and Summon Battleship, which results in a barrage of
Mirage-attribute attacks that can be deflected. Try to grab Bug
so you can get easier shots on him, and drain his Spirit a bit so he
loses the worst of his attacks. From there, just finish him with
Silhouette shots.

Zohar will appear and destroy the Shelter in one blast. After a
bit of dialog and showing off his attribute change ability, Zohar
destroys the ground beneath Shyna and Bug, sending Shyna falling.
Bug, nearly being destroyed himself, turns against Hal and helps Shyna
to escape.
