Hyrule Field to Death Mountain

You have finally reached Hyrule Field. Right now,
you have to go to Hyrule Castle.
After you make your first turn, you will meet up with
Keepora Gabora (the wise owl, or wise guy). Listen
to what he has to say and continue. Now, on to
Hyrule Castle. Chances are, you will not get there
before dark, so you have to spend the night fighting
Stalchilds. Not too tough, just try to make it through
the night. Hyrule Castle is at the northern part of
Hyrule Field.
This is Hyrule Castle. Enter when you get there.
There are plenty of things to do here. A few games
to play (make sure to play the Sling Shooting game,
if you think you are good enough). Also, talk to
Malon, the little girl by the well. She says that her
father (who owns the Lon Lon Ranch) has gone to
the castle but has not returned. Enter the castle.
The owl will appear again soon after you enter. Talk
with the guard and he will reject your request to see
Princess Zelda. So try to sneak in, but get caught on
purpose. Reason being is so that Malon will appear.
She requests that you find her father, and gives Link
a Wierd Egg. Climb the vines again and sneak into
the castle successfully (stay a good distance from the
guards to do this).
You will find Malon's father, Talon asleep inside the
castle walls. Wait until dawn and the Wierd Egg will
hatch into a Chicken. Use the chicken to wake up
Talon. Realizing that Malon might be mad at him, he
runs off. Now, if you look to the right, you will find
a few milk crates. Move one into the drop before
the moat, and the other on top of it. Climb it and
jump onto the ledge on the other side. Crawl through
the hole and enter the courtyard.
This part can be frustrating. You have to make your
pass across the whole courtyard, without getting
caught by the guards. The courtyard consists of 5
areas to pass. Hide behind walls until guards pass.
Study their movement and make your move. After
the last long pass, you are home free.
After you pass the courtyard, walk up to the girl
standing at the window. This is Zelda. She will ask
Link if he has the Kokiri Emerald. Say yes and she
will tell her dream to Link. She tells more of the
Triforce and the Sacred Realm, which can be
entered through the Temple of Time. She says that
in order to get to it, you need the 3 Spiritial Stone
and the Ocarina of Time. She will then show you
Ganondorf, the King of Gerudos. Zelda then gives
Link a Letter and tells him that her attendant will
escourt him out. Go back and meet Impa. She will
teach Link Zelda's Lullabye on the Ocarina.
Impa will escourt Link out. She tells him to go to her
hometown of Kakariko Village. She also says that
the Gorons of Death Mountain have the Spiritial
Stone of Fire. She then disappears. Now, I
recommend that you take a detour to the Lon Lon
Ranch in the middle of Hyrule Field.
In the middle of the ranch, you will meet Malon
again. She will introduce you to her horse, Epona.
Talk to her a bit more until she asks you to sing
a song with her. Take out the Ocarina and she will
teach you Epona's Song. Once you learn it, Epona
will take right to Link. There is not much else here.
A few Gold Skulltulas, a Piece of a Heart, and a
Bottle. Refer to each section for where each of them
are. You will also meet Talon's jellous Farmhand,
Ingo. Keep him in mind for later. Keep an eye for
Navi. She will mention Saria. Now it is time to look
for her. Back to Kokiri Forest.
When you get back to Kokiri Forest, you have to
start looking for Saria. They will say that she is in
her secret place. This is the Lost Woods. Climb the
vines at the northern part of the forest and continue
until you reach the entrance to the Lost Woods.
Ok, this part can be tricky. You have to take the
right routes or else you will end up back at Kokiri
Forest. From the start, go right, then left. You will
then run into the Owl again. Go from there right, left,
straight, left, and right.
You will notice that the gate is up. Get close to it and
a Wolfos will attack. Not too tough. As he attacks,
do a backflip than a jumping slash and that should
kill him. After you kill him, the bars will go down.
Now you have to make your way around to the
back. Keep your shield up, as Mad Scrubs will
attack.
After the final stretch, you will reach the Sacred
Forest Meadow. Saria is there waiting for Link. She
says that this place will someday be important to
both of them. She then teaches Link Saria's Song.
After you learn it, exit the Sacred Forest Meadow.
You will, yet again, run into that stupid owl. In my
words, you should ask the owl how many licks it
takes to the center of a tootsie pop (just a joke).
Anyways, take any route and you will exit the Lost
Woods (unless you go left).
Now you have to head to Kakariko Village. It is just
a bit to the east of Hyrule Castle, so it is not hard to
locate. Like in Hyrule Castle Town, there are a
few things to do here. A few pieces of heart to earn,
another bottle, a few Gold Skulltulas. Remember to
refer to each section for details on each. Also, the
house of the Skulltula is here. When you get 10
Gold Skulltulas, come here to get a prize. Each time
you get 10, you get a prize until you get 50. Then
you have to get the last 50 to get the last prize.
Go to the guard at the gate to Death Mountain. He
will refuse to let Link enter Death Mountain unless
you have Royal Permission. Well, you have Zelda's
Letter. Show it to him and he will let you in. But,
he mentions 2 things. 1: Link should get a better
shield. After all, Death Mountain is an active volcano,
and a Wooden Shield would not stand up well
against it. He says that if you go to the Bazaar in
Hyrule, he will give you a better shield with a
discount. He also mentions something about the
Happy Mask Shop. Read about that in the Side
Quests Section.
First things first, head to the Graveyard to have a
little fun. Read one of the graves beside the big one.
A Poe (or ghost) will appear and attack. Remember
not to target it, or else it will disappear. Once you
have hit it 4 times with the Slingshot, it will die and
leave a spirit. He says that he thought that Link was
one of Ganondorf's men. It tells of Ganondorf and
their research to control time. Anyways, stand on the
Triforce symbol in front of the big grave and play
Zelda's Lullabye. A quick storm will come and open
the grave to Link. Go inside the grave.
I hope you have some Lon Lon Milk, or else this
will kill you. First off, you are in a room with a bunch
of Keese (or bats). Kill all of the Keese which will
open the door. Go through it and you will be in a
large room, full of Re-Deads and a lot of Ooze.
The ooze does damage, but it is a lot better than
running into the Re-Deads, who can freeze you with
their eyes and then drain the life out of you. Go
right through the middle of the room (through the
ooze), and hopefully make it out the other side.
Once you are on the other side, you will see this.
Read it and it you will see a song. This must be the
song the poe was talking about. Learn it and you
will notice that if it was day before you went in, it
is night now, and vice versa. This is the Sun's Song,
which can control time. It also can freeze the
Re-Deads right in their track, which will help a lot.
But it only lasts a short while, so be quick with them.
Exit the Grave.
Make sure it is night out before doing this. Find
the marked grave. Go behind it and pull on it. It will
reveal a hole. Go down into it. There is nothing
here but a small chest, so it must be unimportant,
right? Well, open it anyways. You will find a
Hylian Shield! Remember the one the guard told
you to get at the Bazaar for a discount? Well,
you couldn't ask for a cheaper shield than that. Now
you are ready. Head into Death Mountian.
