Contacts
In addition to the Johnsons, Contacts are the other important people to know for personal gain. Contacts may only be contacted via a vidphone- and except for Sharkey the Rigger, you'll never meet in person (Sharkey operates a helicopter taxi service that you may find handy). Each contact offers one or more of four things: information, items not available elsewhere, services useful for making Runs, and/or discounts at various shops. It's good to know people.

Not the best Contact in the game, but good for a beginner, especially a Decker or someone employing a Decker. She offers information on the Matrix-always a useful thing. Also, she sells pirated software, two useful programs: Rebound, and Degrade (5,000¥ each). Both are extremely useful-though she only sells the level 3 versions of each. You can buy this contact from Gunderson.

This guy is a Rigger, an archetype of Shadowrunner that, like Mages, aren't playable in this game. A Rigger is the guy who sets things up for the team. Max can get you Corps badges (6,000¥) to help fool Corps security, offers the two best SMGs in the game, HK227 (1,500¥) and AK-97 (2,000¥), and offers level 4 and 5 Maglock Passkeys (30,000¥ and 42,000¥ respectively)-and that last is invaluable for a Runner who bases his career around Acquisitions and Extractions. A very useful contact- one of the best, in fact. You can get this contact from Vigore and Jarl.

Also flies her helicopter to remote areas of the wilderness, she can take you to the Salish-Sidhe entrance (3,000¥) or the Sinsearch (5,000¥)-useful, if you don't feel like exploring the deepest heart of the Salish-Sidhe, or are wanted by the law- and hence, unable to aquire a passport. Captain Quinton James sells you this contact.

A Mafia Don, you'll get his name from the leader of the Eye-Fivers gang, once you have enough of a rep-and 10,000¥. He offers free stay at Wylie's Gala Inn, a discount at the Crime Mall and protection from the Lone Star enforcers. Note that if you ally with the Mafia the Yakuza will become your enemies, and you won't be able to get the best armour in the game. If you want to be with these guys do so after getting all the armor you need from the Yakuza. (thanks to Patrick Desrosiers for pointing this out).

The head of the Yakuza, you'll get his name from the leader of the Halloweeners gang, once you have enough of a rep-and 10,000¥. He sells the best body armor in the game (30,000¥), and a level 3 power focus (80,000¥)! And he offers a discount at Little Chibas, for anyone needing Cyberware. Thing is, you'll need a reputation of at least 5 to get him to talk to you. For all these reasons, he's the best contact in the game.
