Multiplayer Mode

Unless you were living under a rock when this came out, this game was created with the main goal of being a multiplayer experience. Unfortunately, it is quite hard to gather the materials needed and the friends needed to fulfill that experience. First off you would need one Game Boy Advance for each player participating, one Game Boy Link Cable for each player, and a Gamecube and FF:CC Game Disc. An expensive prospect indeed. Regardless, this page is here to inform you on the changes made when playing a multiplayer game. The change are few, so bear with me:
One change is with the camera movement. The camera is always fixated on the Crystal Chalice (not player 1, due to popular belief). So wherever the Chalice goes, the camera follows as well. Keep this in mind when doing strategies with your mates.

The next biggest change is how magic works in FF:CC. Instead of combining and fusing spells together, you only need one elemental magicite to cast the most powerful spells. However, you'd need a second player with the same/different elemental magicite to help fuse the more powerful spells. You cannot fuse better spells by yourself. If you both cast the same spell in the same place without holding down the action button to power it up, you'll merely get the next higher spell (eg. Fira). If you both use the same spell on the same spot and power it up for up to 3 seconds and release, you can get a more powerful spell (eg. Firaga). If you want the more powerful spells (like Firaga+1 or +2), you're going to need a third or fourth person with that type of magicite casting the spell too. What complicates matters is the spell fusion timing. As soon as the first player lets go of his action button, a timer begins ticking and the other players must release their action buttons within a certain amount of time and at specific time intervals. That chart of Spell Fusion Timing is listed below the magic list on this page. Study it well and coordinate with your buddies to start blasting the battlefield with awesome spells!

Blazin' Caravans!

There is a fun mini-game that is unlocked during multiplay, that you and your friends can play on your Game Boy Advance screens. To unlock this feature, you must participate in the Mog Stamp Collection sidequest. Whenever you have completed a set of like-minded stamps, you can then play Blazin' Caravans in that Mog House. The details about playing are below:

- Pick up foods to speed up your momentum. The more foods you like in the main FF:CC game, the more speed pickups you'll get in the race. Foods you hate will only slow you down if you touch them.
- Various magicites appear on the track, picking them up gives you an extra edge against your opponents. Their details are below:
Magicite FireColor - RedShoots down the race track like a homing missile and slows down any caravan it touches.
Magicite BlizzardColor - BlueDesposits an ice slick behind you. Any caravan that touches it will have trouble steering for a few moments.
Magicite ThunderColor - BlackShoots down the race track like a homing missile and completely stops any caravan it touches for a brief time.

Enjoy kicking your friend's butts in this fun racing game!
