Techniques

Cless can learn up to 17 regular sword techniques, and 18 combo techniques. He can use up to four of them in battle (but only two at any given time) by equipping two long-range techs and two short-range techs (he can always access a "normal" tech and an "alternate" tech). Techs are largely learned by raising levels, but some are given to Cless during the game. Cless can "master" certain techs by using them a total of 100 times in battle. This doesn't mean that the techs do more damage, but that they can be used in combos; more about that later. Some techniques are both long-range and short-range; they are listed twice.

There's a special accessory called Combo Command which can be bought in Aegis' Workshop; it allows you to use all techs in battle at once! To use any specific tech, you have to use Street Fighter-type commands before pressing the B button. The directions you must press for each tech is given. If you see something like "Down to Left", that means you have to press Down, Down/Left, Left (like in Street Fighter). Usually you must do it in a clockwise direction; if you see a (CC) it means it has to be done counter-clockwise. Again, you must press B after inputting the directions! (This is a lot of fun, but really hard to pull off, especially some of the combos!)

Short Range Techs

Dual Kick
Costs 4 TP; learned at Level 5; masterable.
Command: Down to Left
Cless jumps in the air and comes down on his sword. It's good for two weak hits and one strong one. As far as range goes, this is a fine tech (although it'll miss very high flyers) and takes almost no time to set up. However, its dismal power rating means you'll get rid of this one very soon.

Blade Storm
Costs 15 TP; learned at Level 12; masterable.
Command: Up-Right to Down-Right
Cless gives constant weak attacks with his sword. This tech is a bit too much trouble; once it starts, you're vulnerable from the side and top and can't move; also, it doesn't do all that much damage unless you have the enemy backed up against the wall. It's very good for keeping strong magic users at bay, though.

Tiger Teeth
Costs 7 TP; learned at Level 15; masterable.
Command: Right, Down, Down/Right
Cless swings his sword in a wide arc upward, then downward. Good for two strong hits. This is an excellent tech; I used it all the way until I got Soul Wave! The combos this is used in are also unbelievable. And the small TP cost means you can use it a lot.

Focus
Costs 6 TP; learned at Level 20; not masterable.
Command: Up, Up
A nice tech which raises Cless's attack power. However, it's up to you to decide whether or not you want to fill up one of your tech slots with this. It takes almost no time to pull off, though.

Gale Shield
Costs 5 TP; learned at Level 27; not masterable.
Command: Down/Right to Down/Left, Up
Cless puts his sword in front of him, then a blue barrier rises upwards for several seconds. This tech has potential, but it takes so long to set up that many enemies will just come in and hit you while you're trying. Not very good as an up-close tech, but it's good at keeping enemies away, and it's great for hitting flying enemies like those annoying Dino Bugs. Also a small TP cost!

Fury Slash
Costs 12 TP; learned at Level 31; not masterable.
Command: Up, Left, Right
Cless waits a second, then swings his sword in a huge arc in front of him. (Dhaos uses this tech also, but without the wait. 8-)) This one takes a bit too long to set up and doesn't really do enough damage to warrant the TP cost.

Eir's Love
Costs 6 TP; learned at Level 34; not masterable.
Command: Down/Left to Down/Right, Up
Cless will stick his sword in the ground and heals 1000-2000 of his HP. This tech is OK for long-range, but at short range Cless will likely get hit before he can pull it off. Again you must ask if you want to fill up a tech slot with this when you already have Mint and items for healing.

Magma Rift
Costs 9 TP; learned at Level 41; fire-elemental; masterable.
Command: Right, Left, Right
Cless will drop a firebomb in front of him, then slash. This tech has the shortest range of any tech out there, plus the fire-elemental means most later enemies won't be affected by it. Good for use in Fenrir's Cavern. The fire will even reach some flying enemies.

Firebrand
Costs 10 TP; learned at Level 45; fire-elemental; not masterable.
Command: Down to Up/Right (CC)
Basically a fiery Tiger Teeth, and Cless throws the sword in a downward arc afterwards. This could be an excellent tech if it wasn't for the fact that it's fire-elemental and won't affect some enemies. I'd just stick with Tiger Teeth.

Focus More
Costs 20 TP; learned at Level 50; not masterable.
Command: Down, Down
This tech raises Cless's attack power by a higher amount than Focus, but it takes a bit longer to set up and costs more TP. Your choice.

Soul Wave
Costs 30 TP; given to you by Odin in Odin's Tower; masterable.
Command: Right to Left, Right, Up, Down
Cless will put his sword in the ground, and several sparks (Thunder-elemental) will rise up into the air. Next, he will shoot a large Soul Wave to the right. The sparks are unfortunately elemental so they might not affect enemies, but other than that they can hit for several hits, and even flying enemies. The wave can also hit some flying enemies, and go for several hits, and very long range. An excellent tech, but watch your TP.

Teleport
Costs 30 TP; given to you by Origin in Treant Forest; masterable.
Command: Right to Left, Right, Left, Right
Cless will jump into the air, teleport to his target, hit it on the way down, stab again, then hit it on the way up, then teleport back to his base of movement. Better for a long-range tech than short-range. It takes a little bit to set up, but Cless probably won't be hit before he can pull it off. The big problem is that there isn't much range; it's not very effective against fast enemies or against a large group. Again, watch your TP.

Long Range Techs

Psion Bolt
Costs 2 TP; learned at Level 2; Earth-elemental; masterable.
Command: Down to Right (CC)
Cless will shoot a spark along the ground. This has huge range, and an added bonus that Cless doesn't move from his position. It can even hit low-flying enemies! The downside, of course, is that it has almost no power.

Lightning Bolt
Costs 8 TP; learned at Level 9; Thunder-elemental; masterable.
Command: Up/Right, Down/Left to Down/Right (CC)
Cless will run, jump, and throw a blue crescent (which homes in on the target); a lightning bolt then strikes the crescent. An excellent long-range attack for the beginning to middle of the game. Once enemies start becoming immune to Thunder it loses its touch, but till then it's great. It can hit flying enemies, and multiple enemies if they're standing close enough.

Focus
Costs 6 TP; learned at Level 20; not masterable.
Command: Up, Up
A nice tech which raises Cless's attack power. However, it's up to you to decide whether or not you want to fill up one of your tech slots with this. It takes almost no time to pull off, though.

Phoenix
Costs 8 TP; learned at Level 23; Fire-elemental; masterable.
Command: Left, Right, Up-Right, Down-Left
Cless turns into a fiery bird and flies at the enemy, then bounces back. This one takes quite a while to set up, so it's useless against faster enemies. It's also elemental, so some enemies may take no damage or be healed by it. It's good for use in Fenrir's Cavern.

Lionheart
Costs 14 TP; learned at Level 37; masterable.
Command: Up/Left, Down/Right, Up/Left, Right
Cless dashes at the enemy and pushes it back. If there are more enemies behind it, he pushes them back also. After a preset time, he stops and a giant lion's head comes out of his sword and damages all the enemies. There are two major downsides to this: It can't hit flying enemies at all, and most enemies won't be stopped by Cless's rush. If Cless doesn't get them, he'll be stuck and vulnerable for a second. This is a risky tech to use.

Focus More
Costs 20 TP; learned at Level 50; not masterable.
Command; Down, Down
This tech raises Cless's attack power by a higher amount than Focus, but it takes a bit longer to set up and costs more TP. Your choice.

Soul Edge
Costs 30 TP; given to you by Fenrir in his temple; masterable.
Command; Right to Left, Right, Down, Up
Cless will run; when he gets to his target, he'll jump straight up in the air with his sword stretched out and come down, while a blue dome appears. This is good for three solid hits: One on the way up, one on the way down, and another hit when he lands. It's even good for two hits on flying enemies. Cless's best long-range regular tech, but watch the TP.

Teleport
Costs 30 TP; given to you by Origin in Treant Forest; masterable.
Command: Right to Left, Right
Cless will jump into the air, teleport to his target, hit it on the way down, stab again, then hit it on the way up, then teleport back to his base of movement. Better for a long-range tech than short-range. It takes a little bit to set up, but Cless probably won't be hit before he can pull it off. The big problem is that there isn't much range; it's not very effective against fast enemies or against a large group. Again, watch your TP.

Combos

To use a combo, Cless must have mastered both techs used in that combo, and also have found or bought the combo itself somewhere. There are up to 18 combos you have access to. Elemental information is the same as the original techs (sometimes part of the combo has an elemental and the other part doesn't).

Psion Kick
Costs 9 TP; given to you by Tristan in the Mausoleum.
Command: Down to Right (CC) to Left
Requires Mastered: Psion Bolt, Dual Kick
Cless will rush up to an enemy, do a Psion Bolt, then a Dual Kick. If the enemy's just a bit off the ground, the Psion Bolt will keep going.

Mecha Blade
Costs 15 TP; given by the boy running the weapon shop in Beladam (use the secret passage) or found in the drawers of the southwestern house in Miguel in the Future.
Command: Down to Right (CC), Left, Right, Down, Down/Right
Requires Mastered: Psion Bolt, Tiger Teeth
Cless will rush up to the enemy and simultaneously do a Psion Bolt and two Tiger Teeths one after another. Nice range! Probably one of the best combos there is.

Psion Storm
Costs 16 TP; bought for 6,000 gold from a soldier in the Alvanista Adventurer's Guild (Past/Future).
Command: Down to Right (CC), Left, Up/Right to Down/Right
Requires Mastered: Psion Bolt, Blade Storm
Cless will rush up to the enemy, do a Blade Storm, then a Psion Bolt. If you manage to kill your target with the Blade Storm, the Psion Bolt will hit the one behind him!

Magma Bolt
Costs 10 TP; given to you by a man in a camp to the west of Tower of 12 Stars (Past/Future).
Command: Down to Right (CC), Left, Right, Left, Right
Requires Mastered: Psion Bolt, Magna Rift
Cless will rush up to the enemy and do a Psion Bolt and Magma Rift simultaneously. You can only get a total of three hits out of this one; not great.

Lion Lunge
Costs 12 TP; bought in a house to the southeast of Ymir Forest for 1200 gold (Past) or 12,000 gold (Future).
Command: Up/Left, Down/Right, Up/Left, Right to Left
Requires Mastered: Dual Kick, Lionheart
Cless will rush up to the target and do a Dual Kick, then the Lionheart head will come out and hit any other enemies nearby.

Lion Teeth
Costs 13 TP; won from the first battle in the Coliseum.
Command: Up/Left, Down/Right, Up/Left, Right, Left, Right, Down, Down/Right
Requires Mastered: Tiger Teeth, Lionheart
Cless will rush up to the enemy, do a Tiger Teeth, then the Lionheart head will hit nearby enemies.

Lion Claws
Costs 28 TP; given to you by Suzu's grandfather after beating Dozo and Okiyo in the Coliseum.
Command: Up/Left, Down/Right, Up/Left, Right, Up/Right to Down/Right
Requires Mastered: Blade Storm, Lionheart
Cless will do a Blade Storm, but continue walking forward. An interesting idea, and very effective! You need Lionheart and Blade Storm mastered for this tech.

Lion Flare
Costs 13 TP; bought in the Freezekill Inn for 33,000 gold.
Command: Up/Left, Down/Right, Up/Left, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right
Requires Mastered: Magna Rift, Lionheart
A rather slow tech. Cless will rush up to the target, do a Magma Rift, then the Lionheart head will hit other enemies around.

Bolt Crash
Costs 17 TP; bought from a man in Midgard (Past) for 18,000 gold, or from a man on the second floor of Alvanista Castle (Future) for 18,000 gold.
Command: Up/Right, Down/Left to Down/Right (CC), Left, Right
Requires Mastered: Lightning Bolt, Dual Kick
The crescent of Lightning Bolt will come out at the second hit of the Dual Kick. Even if you've already killed your target, the crescent will head towards the one behind it!

Thor's Wrath
Costs 20 TP; found at the end of the Future Morlia Gallery.
Command: Up/Right, Down/Left to Down/Right (CC), Down to Left
Requires Mastered: Tiger Teeth, Lightning Bolt
Cless will rush up to the enemy and do a Tiger Teeth, then the crescent of Lightning Bolt will come out. Slightly better than the one with Dual Kick.

Tempest
Costs 21 TP; bought for 3000 gold in the Venezia Armor Shop in the Past/Future.
Command: Up/Right, Down/Left to Up/Right (CC), Right, Down/Right
Requires Mastered: Blade Storm, Lightning Bolt
The best one with Lightning Bolt; Cless will rush up, do a Blade Storm, then send out the lightning crescent.

Earth's Rage
Costs 17 TP; bought from a man in the Valhalla Snowfield for 50,000 gold (Past/Future).
Command: Up/Right, Down/Left to Right (CC), Left, Right
Requires Mastered: Magna Rift, Lightning Bolt
Another slow tech with not enough hits (but the hits are strong). Cless rushes up and does a Magma Rift, then the crescent of Lightning Bolt goes out.

Flare Talon
Costs 20 TP; bought from the head kendo master in Miguel for 20,000 gold.
Command: Left, Right, Up/Right, Down/Left, Down to Left
Requires Mastered: Phoenix, Dual Kick
Cless will do a Phoenix, then a Dual Kick. Fairly useless, since the Dual Kick will almost always miss (either you've already killed the enemy, or you've knocked him back.)

Odin's Wrath
Costs 25 TP; bought from a man in the southernmost oasis east of Olive Village (Future) for 40,000 gold.
Command: Left, Right, Up/Right, Down/Left, Right, Down, Down/Right
Requires Mastered: Phoenix, Tiger Teeth
Quite a bit better than the one with Dual Kick, since Cless does two Tiger Teeths after the Phoenix; they have much better range and power.

Burning Soul
Costs 21 TP; given to you by the man in the camp to the west of Edward's house (Past/Future).
Command: Left, Right, Up/Right, Down/Left, Up/Right, Right, Down/Right
Requires Mastered: Phoenix, Blade Storm
This Phoenix combo suffers from the same problems that the Dual Kick version has. It's basically the same, just substitute Blade Storm for Dual Kick.

Cinder Hawk
Costs 18 TP; bought for 50,000 gold in the bar in Ary.
Command: Left, Right, Up/Right, Down/Left, Right, Left, Right
Requires Mastered: Phoenix, Magna Rift
Cless does a Phoenix, then Magma Rift. Not a bad attack; the Magma Rift has better power and range than any of the other three besides Tiger Teeth. The speed is a minus, though.

Soul Forge
Costs 50 TP; given to you by Origin in Treant Forest.
Command: Right to Left, Right, Down, Up, Right to Left, Right, Up, Down
Requires Mastered: Soul Edge, Soul Wave
Cless will do a Fury Slash, then let go with the second part of the Soul Wave. Godlike, but costs a ton of TP.

Soul Strike
Costs 40 TP; given to you by Origin in Treant Forest.
Command: Right to Left, Right to Left, Right, Up, Down
Requires Mastered: Teleport, Soul Wave
Cless will use Teleport to teleport, slash, do the second part of the Soul Wave, then teleport back. Almost as good as the Soul Forge combo, but takes a bit longer and costs a bit less.
