Elinee's Castle to the Ruins South of Pandora
Your immediate reward is a Boomerang's Orb. Leave the room and talk to Elinee, who'll experience an epiphany and reform in an instant. Open the two chests for the Whip weapon and 50 GP. Talk to Elinee once again to get sent to the beginning of the castle, now clear of enemies. Back in the Haunted Forest, go to that raised platform with the peg on it. Equip the Whip and use it to pull your characters to the other side of the gap. Take the nearby transporter to emerge near the Water Palace. Head in to visit Luka, who will heal you and tell you to go save Undine. |

Exit the building, then head right amongst the lillypads to come to a new screen holding some fish enemies and a cave entrance. Head inside, kill some fish, and move into the next room to initiate a minor boss fight.Just pound the little tadpole-thing that hatched from the egg until it transforms into a lizard. It is not a strong boss, but it is notable for two things. First, it can swallow a character. Hit it with someone else to make it spit out the character (who will take some damage). Second, it can case Cure Water (2), restoring a healthy amount of HP to itself. It can only do this three times, though, and it's not much of an attacker, so just pound away at it and you'll win, netting yourself a Glove's Orb and access to a room farther back in the cave. Head inside to meet Undine. She'll grant the Girl and the Sprite water magic, and hand over the final weapon, the Javelin, as well. |
Now make the journey back down to the dwarf village. Upgrade the Boomerang and the Glove, rest at the inn if you need, then head into the cave at the center of village (that opened up after the Tropicallo battle).Cast Freeze on the crystal orb to cool the lava. The next room is another great place for leveling up. It contains two Goblins, which can spawn Ma Goblins. The good thing is that since you're so close to the dwarf village, you can just exit and use the inn whenever you want. I strongly recommend getting the Girl's and the Sprite's Undine magic up to to level one; it will make an upcoming boss battle a breeze. |

When you feel you're ready, go past this room to explore the Underground Palace further - the way is straightforward, with the usual switches to hit. When you come to a gap with pegs on either side, again use the Whip to cross it. A couple of small rooms later, you'll run into an odd-looking character and then a boss fight will start. Level thirteen or fourteen will be good enough to beat him. He uses a lot of fire magic, and can break himself into fireballs and move across the room (while he's like this he can't hurt you and you can't hurt him). When he's in solid form, just blast him with Freeze until he goes down. |
Your reward is an Axe's Orb. In the back room you'll find the second Mana Spirit, Gnome, and another Mana Seed. The Girl and Sprite will get more magic, and since the Boy seals the seed with the Mana Sword, their magic can now be raised to level two (do it as soon as possible...although you don't have to max out everything for your spellcasters, doing so ensures easy boss fights throughout the game. If you choose not to max everything out, at least make sure the Girl has Undine fairly well leveled up - Cure Water is immensely important). |

Leave the palace. Visit Watts to upgrade the Axe, then head for Pandora. At this point, make sure you have at least one Faerie Walnut in your inventory. Talk to the blue-haired girl in the lower-righthand part of town, then use the nearby exit from town and go into the ruins ahead. The first room has three doors at the top, but both the left and the right ones are deadends with enemies inside. Take the center door, and follow the halls until you have the option to go up or down, go down (up is another deadend) and keep going until you reach a room with some cultists standing around and a mean-looking guy on a raised platform. |
Talk to him, and you'll get dropped into a boss fight with...a wall. It's harder than it sounds. The boss has three parts: a central eye, and one eye on either side of that. The center eye can cast Freeze (3) to damage you and Revivifier (3) to revive the side eyes. The righthand eye will cast energy absorb, which, while something of a nuisance, isn't much of a serious problem. The lefthand eye, on the other hand, can cast Cure Water (3) on the central eye. That should be your first target. |

|
Just as a quick note: if you kill both side eyes, the boss will pause for a moment, and then the entire wall will start pushing you backwards towards a spikestrip at the bottom of the room. If you get pushed onto the spikes, you die instantly. Therefore, I recommend you do this: cast Gem Missile on the left eye two or three times to take it out of action, then hammer the central eye with the same spell. The sprite will probably run out of MP before the boss dies; use the Faerie Walnut on her, then resume casting. Wall Face will die in short order, and you'll receive a Bow's Orb. Back in the room above, Thanatos will flee, leaving behind some confused townspeople, and Jema. Talk to Jema to get transported outside. |
