Part 6 - Through Dark Elf's Cave to Underworld

If you built up your levels, this won't be hard. Put Cecil in the back ranks, and unequip anybody in the party wearing metal (this may take some time and some trial and error). Cecil will only be used to cure people, this is where the Cure 2 comes in from building levels. Yang will do most of the damage here, but you can run away from most enemies if you built the levels like I said earlier.
There should be two save spots, and on the second one, remember to use a tent. When you encounter the Dark Elf, he will smack you really good, and you will be defeated. There is no way to beat him now, so don't worry about it.
Just when he's about to finish you off, Gilbert comes to the rescue playing his harp....
During this time, the Dark Elf can't use the power of gravity on you so have Cecil and everyone else re-equip all their metal armor and make sure to put Cecil in the front ranks again.
This battle shouldn't prove to be that difficult. His first form should be easy. Just whack it enough and he should transform into this snake-like creature. This part is a little hard. Cecil should be doing almost all of the damage here (about 900 HP per swing), and since this guy has 4000 HP, it should be dead after 3 rounds with the help of Yang using the buildup, Cid attacking and Tella healing Cecil. If Cid or Yang die, screw them because this battle is all Cecil.
After you beat him and get the crystal, you have to escape. You can fight the monsters if you want for the experience but it's not necessary. Just run away from everything. When you get back go to Gilbert's room and blah, blah, blah.
Go back to the north part and talk to the priests. They say you can now borrow the crystal since you saved it. Cain says to get on your airship.
After this, go down and to the right wing. You can now get into the tresure room shown here. You get a ton of stuff, including some Ether Dry's. Ok, now go to the town (don't get on your airship!) and stock up on supplies. Make sure you have around 10 tents and 50-100 potions.
When you think you're ready (you may want to build up levels a bit), get on your airship. Cain says to follow his airship up to the tower...
Golbeze wants you to fight all his monsters on the way up to him. These monsters are a lot harder than before. What you can do is just run away from everything or fight, either way it won't matter.
Here you get to an intersection; the top three have treasure chests with essential armor for Cecil, and the bottom right moves on. Make sure you get the treasure!
This is an essential spot. That door to the left has bosses so just wait. The door right above is a save spot. Save and use a tent. Now I recommend that you keep fighting to gain a few levels and using tents when necessary. This is very important because after this boss, a very hard one will come up. If you want to make short work of this boss, fight ragonets until you get a book for an icon called ancient. When you think you are ready, save and go to the upper left door.
These are the three sisters, Dog, Mag, and Rag (nice names huh?). Mag (the middle one) is the one you want to kill because she brings her sisters back to life. Unfortunately, she uses reflect so spells don't work. I used ancient on them and this called Leviathan killing them all in one hit. You may have to restart this battle a few times to get a good call monster but that sure is fast. Mag will soon cast reflect on herself bouncing on to one of your guys. Have Yang build up as usual and just thrash the middle sister. Leave the others alone. Have Tella cast Bolt 3, Fire 3, Ice 3 on your reflected member and hopefully it will hit Mag. Their attacks aren't grueling so you should suffer much.
Go save and then move up. You will encounter Golbeze and immediately Tella will go to battle. After a while, he will cast Meteo, doing a ton of damage to Golbeze, thus ending the battle.
Not quite dead, Golbeze orders Cain to go with him, but it seems his spell on Cain was broken when Meteo was cast.
Now he proceeds to finish Cecil off but stops...and runs away.
Tella, after casting Meteo, has no energy left and dies. He says to avenge him and his daughter.
Go talk to Cain, and he apologizes and runs with you up north to save Rosa.
Going north, Cecil runs and saves Rosa just in time before a swinging axe was going to cut her head off (in the US SNES version it was this big steel ball).
After an emotional moment, the party agrees that they want Cain to join their party. When you move down a few steps you're going to fight the 3rd fiend.
This here is a tough battle. When Valvalicia goes into her spin, only Cain can break out her out of it. She makes your characters turn into stone a lot so have Rosa use Esuna on them. Cecil is useless here so have him just use cure 2 on the people who need it. Cid will just attack doing moderate damage. Yang will do the most (around 750 HP) damage so have him build up. Have Cain jump. She uses Tornado a lot so make sure to heal. One of the big things fighting her is timing. You have to wait to get the timing right so that right when she spins, Cain will come down and hit here and that Yang will hit when she isn't spinning.
After you beat Valvalicia, the tower is falling, so Rosa with her quick thinking escapes the party using Teleport. You end up back in Baron.
Cecil has a little talk with Cain about 4 dark crystals. It turns out Golbeze only has half of them. He gives Cecil a rock which supposedly opens the way to the underground.
Go directly south with the airship until you reach this island. Land, and go into the town.
From here go up to the bottomless well. Use the rock that Cain gave to you.
The mountain top crumbles away revealing a pathway down into the underworld. You will use this to go back and forth with your airship.
Once you go down however, you get caught between the crossfire of the Red Wings and some mysterious tanks. The Enterprise gets damaged too much and takes a dive down to ground.
You end up being in a mysterious world...
