Mini-Games Ahh, those lovable mini-games. Always a nice little distraction from the main adventure. From the Pachisi Tracks in DW3, to the Quad Mist and Triple Triad card games in the FF games, to the balloon mini-games in Xenogears... I could go on forever. Mini-games are an important part of any RPG, not just for fun, but to help you progress in the game. The mini-games in Super Ninja Boy are no exception. In fact, some of them need to be done to progress throughout the game! Here is a chronological list of all the minigames throughout Super Ninja Boy, their locations, requirements to play, and prizes earned for winning!
Location: The Janken House, (South Of Yokan and Samurai's Cave) Cost: Free Prizes: Vitalizer, and then Sweet Buns Description: Princess Leila challenges you to a free game of Paper, Rock, Scissors. Except, in this version, she pulls a random card out of her group of cards with either a paper, rock, or scissors on it. Then, you choose a random card out of your group of cards and hope you beat her. Beat her 3 times to win!
Location: Most of the 2-D Special Stages, near the end of the stage behind the glowing blocks (use a Dragon Egg to enter). Cost: 10 Sen per game (3 tries) Prizes: Medals (1 medal per correct sound) Description: The Soundmaster chooses a random musical note card, and then you choose a random card out of your group of cards, hoping it matches his tone. Not much to this one really, and not really worth it to play (you have to abandon the special stage and restart it to play)! Each correct guess gives you a medal, which can be used to play the Exchangeya game. Miss 3 times at this game, and it's over.
Location: Inside the Samurai's Cave Cost: 100 Sen (3 tries) Prizes: Various common items, such as the Sweet Bun, Boo Bomb, etc, or the rarer Meat Bun. Description: You know how to play Concentration, don't you? Well, this is essentially the same thing. Flip over two random cards. If they match, you get the matched item. Simple as that. Getting the Skull cards means you get nothing, even if you match two of them!
Location: Edo City Cost: Free Prizes: 1 Dragon Egg per victory Description: A list of character names is displayed on the right-hand side of the screen. Character names will scroll EXTREMELY fast on the left-hand side of the screen. You have to choose the two names that don't appear on the left-hand side from the menu on the right. By the way, the two names are ALWAYS Jack and Scheherazade, no matter what! Meaning, this "game" is an extremely easy way to stock up on Dragon Eggs for free!
Location: Celestern and Cactus Town Cost: 10 Medals! (for 1 try! What a ripoff!) Prizes: Sweet Bun and or Hypnoblow (very rare) Description: Choose a treasure chest. 1 of them has treasure, the others.... nothing. Waste of time, if you ask me. The ONLY reason to play this game would be for the Hypnoblow, which is the absolute strongest punch in the game and kills any enemy/boss in about 2 or 3 hits. But, if you REALLY want to cheat and get the Hypnoblow, check the Secrets section of the Shrine. I suggest you play with honour and NOT take this weapon, as it makes the game too easy.
Location: Horizon Gate Cost: Free Prizes: The Feather Sword, needed to kill Nargi! Description: After finding the Ultimate Scroll in Ghouland, return to Horizon Gate and talk to Rick to play this game. Basically, you must match up the pieces of his portrait, but it's so much FUN to mess up his face with other peoples! Once you construct his face, he gives you the Feather Sword and the game is shut down for good! Aww....
Location: Athletown Cost: 100 Sen Prizes: Magic Wind Description: This mini-game must be completed to progress further in the game. Basically, B.B flips a numbered card, with a number from 1 to 10. You flip a random card from your group of cards, hoping it is of higher numerical value than hers. Beat her 6 times, and you win! That's all for mini-games!
