1. As you raise your experience levels, use your magic frequently. Do so especially with Chezni and Midia because they are your main characters and their magic can become quite strong in time. It is possible to complete the game without raising your levels very much, but it will be much easier if you do. 2. Certain items raise character attributes (HP, strength, endurance, speed and luck) and others raise spirits levels. Because these items cannot be bought and only found in chests or won from enemies, always use them on either Chezni or Midia, since they are your two most valuable characters. They are not worth using on a mercenary whom you might dismiss sooner or later or on a character who joins the party for a certain sub-quest. You may wish to use them on mercenary whom you intend to keep in the party through to the end of the game, though. 3. Keep Chezni and Midia equipped with healing bottles at all times. This is especially important because spells consume HP in Paladin's Quest, weakening the caster in battles. Be sure to keep Chezni and Midia equipped with the best healing bottles available. And do not sell off your old healing bottles, since they are useful for small healings and conserving the doses of more powerful bottles. 4. Hire new mercenaries as you encounter them. Obviously, this is ultimately up to the player, but I had best results when I did so, since the new mercenaries usually had better equipment and were at higher levels when hired (thus saving level-raising time). Some mercenaries, however, are not worth hiring (see the character section).
