Not really a battle, because there are no enemies. However, those little buttons on the floor? Yep, ALL of them are traps that deal out damage (but only to the person who controlled the move - so use Fron). Head to the forward-left corner of the room. There will be a switch that blends in with the rest of the floor surrounded by blank panels. Step on it. That will cause the staircase at the back of the room to extend down to the floor. Walk up to it, using Recover as the traps damage you. One thing to look out for: the space to the diagonal forward-left of the staircase will cause it to retract, so avoid it.
