General Skills

Skill AP Lv. Description Comment
Use Item 0 --- Use item 'Nuff said.
Separate 0 --- Partners move individually. Use this when you need to split the characters up and act independently.
Pair Up 0 --- Partner moves when you do. ....and, in turn, use this when you want to act with both characters at once.
Defend 0 --- Perfect against missile weapons. Given the more active nature of Monstania's combat system, usually it's better to move the character than it is to defend.
Check 0 --- Investigate the tile in front of you. Use this to pick flowers, lift stones, etc...if you can't hit it with a weapon, try this.
Recover 5 --- Recover half of your maximum HP. You'll be using this skill a lot. More than any other.

Fron's Skills

Skill AP Lv. Description Comment
Jump 0 --- Jump 2 steps ahead. You can leap over short obstacles. Useful only in certain situations. You won't use it much, but don't forget you have it.
Sonic Boom 6 2 Send a shockwave from your sword through 1 enemy. A move with a range of six squares that does as much damage as your regular attack.
Strike Dead 7 3 Attack one enemy. If it connects, it will do enough damage to kill your opponent. Rarely hits, though, so stick with other attack skills.
Critical 8 4 A critical hit. Guaranteed! Will do twice as much damage as your regular attack. Better than using Strike Dead, but don't waste AP on this once you get Jump Slash.
Jump Slash 10 6 A dropping slice hurts for more. Fron's main power attack. Use it often.
WhirlSlash 12 8 Whirl around in all directions. You can hit each square on your four sides with this attack for normal damage...not really a useful move.
DashAttack 15 11 Double damage from a distance. A bit pricey AP-wise, but it does do good damage and is useful against large monsters who can knock you back a space with each attack.
Kamaitachi 18 14 Small damage to all enemies within range. The range is based on the direction you're facing, and it seems pretty large. This skill is an absolute necessity when trying to prevent those Sea Bugs from getting to Dr. Pascal's lab.

Tia's Skills

Skill AP Lv. Description Comment
Aim 4 --- Always hits home. Very useful. Lets you hit an enemy within a range of 6 squares with an arrow.
Sing 8 --- A song... Does a very small amount of damage to all enemies on screen. You can only use it three times per battle before Tia's throat gets too sore. Makes the battle with the Sea Bugs a lot easier, but not too useful in other battles.
Help 3 --- Partner's AP up 6 points. Good for helping Fron keep up with Jump Slashes and Kamaitachis once his own AP is exhausted.
Confuse 10 2 An attack aimed at the outside. Sprays a few arrows around the square you targeted. They may or may not hit any enemies nearby.
Treat 10 2 Recover half a partner's maximum HP You have to be standing next to the partner to use it.
Slow 12 3 Slow down speed of one foe. From what I can see, makes the enemy lose a single turn, which isn't that useful.
MagicSword 15 4 Partner's attack increased. Doubles your partner's attack power. Very useful.
Time Stop 18 6 Stop time for everyone else. ---

Chitta's Skills

Skill AP Lv. Description Comment
Blaze 20 --- Grill everything around you to perfection. Limited range, uses a LOT of AP...better off sticking to ShineArrow.
ShineArrow 7 --- Damage enemies with arrows of light. Very nice to use against large creatures (bosses, really), because it hits *each* square - meaning that if it passes over two squares the boss occupies, it hits the boss twice.
Earthquake 15 --- Cause the ground to shake underneath all enemies feet. Little damage for a lot of AP. Not worth it.
Thunder 10 --- Thunder slams into an enemy. Good when you first get Chitta...later on the make-up of the battles makes ShineArrow more useful.

Morin's Skills

Skill AP Lv. Description Comment
Heal Song 10 --- Everyone gains half of their max HP. Nice, mainly because you don't have to be next to anyone else like you do with Treat.
AttackSong 15 --- Everyone but you takes small damage. Does a pathetically tiny amount of damage, but still enough to be useful in one battle.
Relax Song 8 --- Everyone except you recovers a little AP. Like Help...use it in the same way to support Fron.

Mikey's Skills

Skill AP Lv. Description Comment
Superang 8 --- Attack twice with a boomerang. Throw the boomerang four spaces ahead for two times the normal damage.
LongBoomer 3 --- Long range boomerang. Throw the boomerang four spaces ahead for normal damage.
Rangeblade 6 -- Attack directly with boomerang. Hits three times. Mikey's specialty is long-range, so this skill is a bit out of place.

Marina's Skills

Skill AP Lv. Description Comment
Help 3 --- Partner's AP up 6 points. Same as Tia's skill.
Treat 10 --- Recover half a partner's maximum HP Same as Tia's skill.
Cooking 4 --- Make delicious food. Doesn't seem to do anything.
Cleaning 5 --- Make a messy room clean again. Doesn't seem to do anything.
Washing 6 --- Wash dirty clothes. Doesn't seem to do anything.

Marx's Skills

Skill AP Lv. Description Comment
Critical 8 --- A critical hit. Guaranteed! Great to use often, given Marx's AP-regenerating abilities.
SpinDuster 12 --- Rotates in all directions. You only have Marx for a short time, and this move isn't useful in the Sandworm battle unless you somehow manage to get surrounded by it.
