The side quests and mini-games in Final Fantasy IX are great in number and variety.  Many of them will give you very helpful rewards, and some are just plain fun.  Most of them will have to be completed before the end of Disc 3, due to events that take place then.  Here is a list of the side quests and mini-games that are available:
