Harvest moon has items, as all RPGs should.
In the case of harvest moon, they are basicly all farming tools. With most items, they are stored in your shed. You can hold two at a time, use with the Y button, X changes the item what you want to use.

Water Can	nil	Pick it up at the start of the game from the flower lady. (Talk to her behind the counter). Water plants with it.(1 square per use)
Hoe	start	Can make 1 block of turned soil.
Sickle	start	Cut 1 block of long grass.
Hammer	start	Used for breaking useless big rocks. Big rocks require 6 hits.(Don't move while breaking rock)
Axe	start	Used for cutting tree stumps to obtain wood. Takes 6 hits to cut 1 stump.(don't move while cutting wood)
Sprinkler	$2000	Covers a 3x3 area with water. Get it 20th of summer off tool shop.
Super Hoe	convert	Turns 6 blocks of earth in a row.
Super Sickle	convert	Cuts 3x3 blocks of grass
Super Hammer	convert	Smashs big rocks in 1 hit. (Useless seeing that rocks don't re-appear, most people destroy all the rocks at the start anyway.)
Super Axe	convert	Chops stumps in 1 hit. Actually useful compared to the Hammer.
Chicken Feed	$1000	Buy it at the animal trader. Delivered into the chicken roost. I never used this except to see what its like. Only useful if you run out of hay during winter, which shouldn't happen if you stock up accordingly. Otherwise, stick to hay.
Cow feed	$1000	As above, but with cows.
Cow Brush	$800	Buy at tool shop. Brush your cows everyday to keep them happy.
Cow Milker	$1800	Buy at tool shop. Use it to milk your cows with.
Cow bell	Nil	Comes with first cow. Ring it and cows will go to you
Ice seed	$2000	Buy it off the flea market man during the spring festival. Plant it at the VERY tip of the summet, to get a nice surprise.
Purfume (all)	$1000	Comes in 3 different fragrances. Please the girl of your choice with her favourate fragrance (refer to datings do's and don'ts)
Blue feather of happiness	$1600	Use this to propose to the girl who loves you. She'll feel ready to marry when she has 5+ hearts. She'll marry on a saturday.
