You can't win this battle by beating up the bear, yet you do need to dispose of him. The obvious way? Dump him down a hole. Make sure you're separated, and move Chitta behind the hole Fron fell down (note: make sure you DO NOT have Chitta and Tia standing on any two of the squares to the left, forward, or forward-left of the hole or the ground will give way). Leave Chitta where she is, and have Tia follow the bear's movements to the forward (due to the debris on the map, the bear will have to go around the perimeter of the map and head towards the hole moving back from the forward end of the screen). Once it reaches an opening it can fit through, lure it with Tia up to the hole, and once it moves in place the ground will give way beneath it and the battle will end.
