Classes

There are lots of character classes in Final Fantasy 5. You get all the innate skills and stats of the class you select, plus you can equip one of any type of skill you have learned from any other class. If you select the Suppin (Normal) class, you get all the innate skills and best stats from every class you have mastered, plus you can select two of any type of skill you have learned from any other class. Mimic works the same as Suppin only you get to equip three skills instead of two, however Mimic does not have the Fight and Item battle options which are defaults for every other class unless you select them as skills.

There are three types of skills. Battle skills have ! in front of them, and are commands which can be used in battle, and must be selected as Abilities even if you are using the class which knows that skill. Innate skills are skills which a class has without having to select them, and all the innate skills of a class are passed on to the Suppin and Mimic classes once you master that class. The third type of skills are status skills. They aren't battle commands but they aren't selected automatically either. These skills are often mistaken for innate skills.

The quantity after the level number is the number of ability points a character must attain in order to advance to the given level.

In case it isn't obvious, the pictures are in the following order: Butz, Lenna, Faris, Galuf and Cara. Galuf doesn't have a Mimic picture, since he'll never be able to use that class.

Classes

Suppin/EquipAny/Normal:

This class does not learn skills, but can use all of the innate skills of any and all already mastered classes and can choose 2 other skills.

Knight:

Status skills: Bothhand/Dbl Grip, Equipshilds, Equiparmor, Equipswords

   Level 1 (10 AP)- Cover. The character will automatically take hits for near-death allies.

    Level 2 (30 AP)- !Protect/!Guard. The character will block most physical attacks.

    Level 3 (50 AP)- Bothhand/Dbl Grip. You can hold one handed weapons in 2 hands, increasing the damage they do.

    Level 4 (100 AP)- Equipshilds. Equip any shield.

    Level 5 (150 AP)- Equiparmor. Equip any armor.

    Level 6 (350 AP)- Equipswords. Equip any sword.

Monk:

Able to equip: No weapons/shields
Battle option: !Kick - Physical attack on all enemies.
Innate abilities: Brawl, Counter
Status skills: HP 10% Up, HP 20% Up, HP 30% Up

    Level 1 (15 AP)- !BuildUp. Build up strength and double attack power.

    Level 2 (30 AP)- Brawl. Attack empty-handed as well as a monk.

    Level 3 (45 AP)- !Chakra/!Mantra. Cure poison and darkness.

    Level 4 (60 AP)- Counter. Counter when attacked.

    Level 5 (100 AP)- HP 10% Up. Maximum HP up 10%.

    Level 6 (150 AP)- HP 20% Up. Maximum HP up 20%.

    Level 7 (300 AP)- HP 30% Up. Maximum HP up 30%.

Thief:

Battle option: !Steal
Innate abilities: Passages, Dash, Caution
Status skills: Restless/Agility

    Level 1 (10 AP)- Passages. See hidden passages.

    Level 2 (20 AP)- !Escape. Run away hastily. Still can't run from all battles.

    Level 3 (30 AP)- Dash. Hold down B while walking to move faster.

    Level 4 (50 AP)- !Steal. Steal monsters' treasure.

    Level 5 (75 AP)- Caution. Prevent 'Back Attacks'.

    Level 6 (150 AP)- !Capture. Steal treasure while attacking enemy.

    Level 7 (300 AP)- Restless/Agility. Become as agile as a Thief.

Dragoon:

Battle option: !Jump
Innate abilities: None
Status skill: Equip Spear

    Level 1 (50 AP)- !Jump. Jump attack. Attack power x2 if attacking with a spear.

    Level 2 (150 AP)- !DrgnSwd. Absorb HP and MP.

    Level 3 (400 AP)- Equip spear. Equip any spear or lance.

Ninja:

Able to equip: Daggers
Battle option: !Throw
Innate abilities: 1st Attack/Preemptiv, 2-handed
Status skill: None

    Level 1 (10 AP)- !Smoke. Run away hastily. Still can't run from all battles.

    Level 2 (30 AP)- !Image. Double evade of physical attacks.

    Level 3 (50 AP)- 1st Attack/Preemptiv. Preemptive attack rate up.

    Level 4 (150 AP)- !Throw. Attack by throwing weapons and other objects.

    Level 5 (450 AP)- 2-handed. Be able to wield weapons in both hands.

Samurai:

Able to equip: Daggers, Katanas, Shields
Battle option: !GP Toss
Innate ability: Evade
Status skill: Equip Katanas

    Level 1 (10 AP)- !SwdSlap. Paralyze enemies.

    Level 2 (30 AP)- !GP Toss. Throw coins to damage all enemies.

    Level 3 (60 AP)- Evade. Evade more attacks.

    Level 4 (180 AP)- Equip Katanas. Equip any katana.

    Level 5 (540 AP)- !Slash. Wipe out the enemy.

Berserker:

Gained from: Water Crystal
Able to equip: Daggers, Axes/Hammers, Shields
Battle option: None
Innate ability: Berserk
Status skill: Equip Axes

    Level 1 (100 AP)- Berserk. Continue attacking until every enemy is annihilated.

    Level 2 (400 AP)- Equip Axes. Equip any axe.

Archer/Hunter:

Able to equip: Daggers, Bows
Battle option: !Aim
Innate abilities: None
Status skill: Equip Bows

    Level 1 (15 AP)- !Animals. Call upon our forest friends. Click here for animals list.

    Level 2 (45 AP)- !Aim. Hit % up.

    Level 3 (135 AP)- Equip Bows. Equip any bow.

    Level 4 (405 AP)- !X-Fight. Four consecutive attacks (each doing 1/2 normal damage).

Mystic Knight:

Battle option: !MgcSwrd
Innate ability: Barrier
Status skill: None

    Level 1 (10 AP)- Barrier. Automatic magic barrier when near-death.

    Level 2 (20 AP)- !MgcSwrd. Use level 1 MagicSword spells.

    Level 3 (30 AP)- !MgcSwrd. Use MagicSword spells level 2 and below.

    Level 4 (50 AP)- !MgcSwrd. Use MagicSword spells level 3 and below.

    Level 5 (70 AP)- !MgcSwrd. Use MagicSword spells level 4 and below.

    Level 6 (100 AP)- !MgcSwrd. Use MagicSword spells level 5 and below.

    Level 7 (400 AP)- !MgcSwrd. Use MagicSword spells level 6 and below.

White Wizard/Mage:

Status skill: MP 10% Up

    You usually buy White magic spells (You can find them occasionally), except for Holy, which is found in the Twin Towers in the 3rd world. Click here for spell list.

    Level 1 (10 AP)- !White. Use level 1 White spells.

    Level 2 (20 AP)- !White. Use White spells level 2 and below.

    Level 3 (30 AP)- !White. Use White spells level 3 and below.

    Level 4 (50 AP)- !White. Use White spells level 4 and below.

    Level 5 (70 AP)- !White. Use White spells level 5 and below.

    Level 6 (100 AP)- !White. Use White spells level 6 and below.

    Level 7 (300 AP)- MP 10% Up. Maximum MP up 10%.

Black Wizard/Mage:

   You usually buy Black magic spells (you can find them occasionally), except for Flare, which is found in the Twin Towers in the 3rd world. Click here for spell list.

    Level 1 (10 AP)- !Black. Use level 1 Black spells.

    Level 2 (20 AP)- !Black. Use Black spells level 2 and below.

    Level 3 (30 AP)- !Black. Use Black spells level 3 and below.

    Level 4 (50 AP)- !Black. Use Black spells level 4 and below.

    Level 5 (70 AP)- !Black. Use Black spells level 5 and below.

    Level 6 (100 AP)- !Black. Use Black spells level 6 and below.

    Level 7 (450 AP)- MP 30% Up. Maximum MP up 30%.

Time Wizard/Mage:

Status skill: Equip Rods

    You usually buy Jikuu/Dimen spells (you can occasionally find them), except for Meteo, which is found in the third world in the Lava shrine, where you find the 3rd tablet. Click here for spell list.

    Level 1 (10 AP)- !Jikuu/!Dimen. Use level 1 Jikuu/Dimen spells.

    Level 2 (20 AP)- !Jikuu/!Dimen. Use Jikuu/Dimen spells level 2 and below.

    Level 3 (30 AP)- !Jikuu/!Dimen. Use Jikuu/Dimen spells level 3 and below.

    Level 4 (50 AP)- !Jikuu/!Dimen. Use Jikuu/Dimen spells level 4 and below.

    Level 7 (250 AP)- Equip Rods. Equip any rod.

Caller/Summoner:

   The character can use call/summon magic. You must find most call/summon spells. Click here for spell list.

    Level 1 (15 AP)- !Call/!Summon. Use level 1 Summon spells.

    Level 2 (30 AP)- !Call/!Summon. Use Summon spells level 2 and below.

    Level 3 (45 AP)- !Call/!Summon. Use Summon spells level 3 and below.

    Level 4 (60 AP)- !Call/!Summon. Use Summon spells level 4 and below.

    Level 5 (100 AP)- !Call/!Summon. Use Summon spells level 5 and below.

    Level 6 (500 AP)- !Summon/!Conjure. Summon a random call beast without using MP.

Blue Wizard/Mage:

Battle option: !Blue
Innate ability: Learning
Status skill: None

    Blue Wizards can learn and use certain spells enemies cast. You learn them when an enemy casts that spell on a character with the Learning ability. Obviously monsters will not cast beneficial spells on your party, so you must first control those monsters with a monster trainer, then have them cast the spell on your party. Blue spells are not divided into levels. Click here for spell list.

    Level 1 (10 AP)- !Peep/!Observe. Check an enemy's HP/weak point(s).

    Level 2 (20 AP)- Learning. Learn special attacks of monsters like a Blue Wizard.

    Level 3 (70 AP)- !Blue. Use Blue magics

    Level 4 (250 AP)- !Scan/!Analyze. See an enemy's level/HP/weak point(s)/conditions.

Red Wizard/Mage:

Able to equip: Daggers, Rods, Swords, Shields
Battle option: !Wht/Blk/!Red
Innate abilities: None
Status skill: None

    Level 1 (20 AP)- !Wht/Blk/!Red. Use level 1 White and Black spells.

    Level 2 (40 AP)- !Wht/Blk/!Red. Use White and Black spells level 2 and below.

    Level 3 (100 AP)- !Wht/Blk/!Red. Use White and Black spells level 3 and below.

    Level 4 (999 AP)- !X-Magic. Cast two spells consecutively. Also gives character access to White and Black spells level 3 and below.

Trainer/Mediator:

Status skill: Equip Whips

    Level 1 (10 AP)- !Tame. Tame demon/beast type monsters.

    Level 2 (50 AP)- !Control. Control a monster's body.

    Level 3 (100 AP)- Equip Whips. Equip any whip.

    Level 4 (300 AP)- !Catch. Capture weakened monsters.

Chemist:

Appearance:

Gained from: Earth Crystal
Able to equip: Daggers, Staffs
Battle option: !Drink
Innate ability: Medicine
Status skill: None

    Level 1 (15 AP)- Medicine. Effect of potions/ethers doubles.

    Level 2 (30 AP)- !Mix/!Combine. Mix a new potion from two old ones in battle.

    Level 3 (45 AP)- !Drink. Drink 'Power Up' drinks.

    Level 4 (135 AP)- !Health/!Pray. Heal various conditions.

    Level 5 (405 AP)- !Revive. Heal unconscious party members.

Elementalist/Geomancer:

Appearance:

Gained from: Fire Crystal
Able to equip: Daggers, Bells
Battle option: !Terrain
Innate abilities: Pitfalls, DmgFloor
Status skill: None

    Level 1 (25 AP)- !Terrain. Utilize nature's power to attack the enemy.

    Level 2 (50 AP)- Pitfalls. Spot pitfalls.

    Level 3 (100 AP)- DmgFloor. Be unharmed on damage floors.

Bard:

Appearance:

Gained from: Fire crystal/Black Chocobo
Able to equip: Daggers, Harps
Battle option: !Sing
Innate abilities: None
Status skill: Equip Harps

    Level 1 (25 AP)- !Conceal. Hide oneself to not be attacked by enemies.

    Level 2 (50 AP)- Equip Harps. Equip any harp.

    Level 3 (100 AP)- !Sing. Sing songs of magic.

Dancer:

    Level 1 (25 AP)- !Flirt. Renders an enemy unable to take action for a turn or two, if successful.

    Level 2 (50 AP)- !Dance. Dance mysterious dances.

    Level 3 (325 AP)- Equip Ribbons. Equip any ribbon.

Mimic:

    Level 1 (999 AP)- !Mimic. Copies the command the previous person used.
