Cards can be used by Rooks and only Rooks. They are the equivalent of spells. For example, Fog Card is much like Flee.
Rooks can use 2 or 3 Elemental Cards simultaneously for greater effect. For instance, Two Wind Cards is like Lightning Two.

Explanation about the Call Amulet: The Call Amulet is a gamble. Usually it summons one of the four spirits (regardless of their current status) to do their element of magical damage to all enemies. However, there are two other possible outcomes. One is a little blue bird with green hair that does a little dance, attacks everyone in your party except for Rooks (but including your Spirit), then attacks all enemies, with non-elemental damage. The other possibility is a bird with the same sprite but red with orange hair (and he does a different dance) that ONLY attacks your party members (again, except for Rooks but including the Spirit). The blue bird isn't TOO common, and the red bird less so, at least from my experiences. Thanks to Alonzo Miramontes for bringing this to my attention. Both birds are pictured below.
