Star Pieces in Goomba Village

 In the far-left screen in Jr. Troopa's playground, hit the right-most tree with your hammer, and you'll find a Dolly. Return it to Goombaria for a Star Piece.
There is a Star Piece hidden under a panel in the screen west of Goomba Village where Goombaria found you at the beginning of the game.
