Special Moves
These moves are unlocked as Mario finds the Crystal Stars. They use Star Power, and each Crystal Star gives Mario more Star Power to work with, and his Star Power is restored by the audience. For each Special Attack he gains, his maximum Star Power goes up by one.
Each Star Power has its own unique, usually fun, way to increase its effectiveness. IT'S ALMOST AS IF EACH ONE IS ITS OWN SUPER-FUN MINI-GAME!!!!!!! I have described this in the "Strategy" section.

Mario uses this to restore his HP, his current partner's HP and his FP. This also restore's Mario and his partner's status. |
Icons fall slowly from the top of the screen as a crosshair moves up and down in front of Mario. All in all, there are 7 Mario icons, 7 for his partner, 8 flowers, and 3 poison shrooms. By pressing left on the Control Stick, Mario will throw a star. If he hits an icon, something will happen. For each of Mario's icons he hits, he'll restore 1 HP. Likewise for Mario's partner. For each flower icon that is hit, they will restore 1 FP. If he hits a Poison Shroom, Mario will be stunned and unable to throw stars for a while. If Mario's partner is currently dead, his or her icons will be replaced by Mario icons. |

Mario uses this to damage all on-screen enemies. This attack ignores Defense. |
A gauge appears above Mario with four stars on it. The gauge slowly fills, and Mario must press A just as the line passes each star. If he hits them all, he moves onto another bar that goes faster and has one more star on it. And if he hits all five of them, he'll go onto a faster bar with 6 stars, then a faster one with 7, then the fastest one with 8. The amount of damage this attack does depends on the number of bars Mario gets past. If he fails on the first one, it does 1 HP of damage. If he gets past all five successfully, it does 5 HP of damage. Also, the more powerful the attack, the bigger the quake. Airborne enemies may be able to fly over a weak attack, but the more powerful it is, the less of a chance they'll have to be above the attack. The most powerful attack covers the entire screen. |

Mario uses this to cause "Stop" status on all enemies. |
A giant bomb will appear, and so will a gauge and icons representing buttons A, B and X. One of the icons will be above Mario's party, one above the enemies, and one between them. By tapping any of these three buttons, you can fill the gauge. Also, by tapping a button, it will cause the bomb to be thrown to the corresponding area of the screen. The catch is that the icons constantly swap places, so you must be careful which button you're tapping (you obviously want to tap the one above the enemies). The bomb constantly gets bigger and finally explodes. If it's near your party, it puts you to sleep, if it's near the enemies, it puts them to sleep. If it's between the two parties, it puts the audience to sleep. The gauge won't stay full, as it constantly depletes itself when you're not tapping. How full the gauge is when the bomb explodes determines how many rounds the effect lasts, either 0, 1, 2 or 3. |

Power Lift |

Mario uses this to boost his and his partner's Defense and Attack Power. |
A 3x3 grid will appear on the screen, and a cursor will appear over it. In each block of the grid, icons will keep appearing and disappearing... each icon either a blue arrow, a red arrow or a poison shroom. You can hit an icon by moving the cursor over it and pressing A. For each five red arrows you hit, your Attack Power will go up by 1. For each five blue arrows you hit, your defense will go up by 1. If you hit a poison shroom, your cursor will be greatly slowed down for a short while. The effects of Power Lift will last for 3 rounds. |

Mario uses this to heavily damage the enemies he wants to. This attack pierces enemy defenses. |
A cursor will appear on the screen, near the enemies. The cursor leaves a trail wherever it's moved. By drawing rings around enemies, you can damage them. For each complete loop around an enemy, you will cause it 3 HP of damage. If your loop goes through most of the enemy, you'll cause 2 HP of damage, and if it only goes through a little of it, you'll cause 1 HP of damage. You can include as many enemies in a loop as you'd like, but smaller loops are quicker to draw, so you can cause more damage to a single enemy by drawing many small loops. But remember to completely circumscribe the enemy to cause maximum damage. |

Mario uses this upgraded version of Sweet Treat to restore his HP, his current partner's HP and his FP. This also restore's Mario and his partner's status. |
Icons fall quickly from the top of the screen as a crosshair moves up and down in front of Mario. All in all, there are 12 Mario icons, 12 for his partner, 12 flowers, 4 big Mario icons, 4 big partner icons, 12 big flower icons and 2 poison shrooms. By holding left on the Control Stick, Mario will rapidly throw stars. If he hits an icon, something will happen. For each of Mario's icons he hits, he'll restore 1 HP, and for a big icon, he'll restore 3 HP. Likewise for Mario's partner. For each flower icon that is hit, they will restore 1 FP, and for a big flower, they will restore 3 FP. If he hits a Poison Shroom, Mario will be stunned and unable to throw stars for a while. If Mario's partner is currently dead, his or her icons will be replaced by Mario icons. |

Mario uses this to instantly all enemies without fighting them. Enemies defeated this way leave no Star Points. |
A bar will appear above Mario with three icons representing buttons. Press the buttons in the correct order to reveal another bar with four icons. Do that perfectly to reveal a bar with 5 icons, then 6, and finally 7. If you mess up, you'll have to stop. Also, there's a time limit, so you need to be quick. The more bars you complete, the greater the chance the attack will defeat the enemies. |

Mario uses this to heavily damage all enemies. This attack pierces enemy defenses. |
All you have to do is tap A as fast as you can. Tap A until you fill a gauge, then another will appear, so keep doing it. You can fill up to five gauges. The damage you do to the enemies is 3 times the number of gauges you complete, for a maximum of 15 HP of damage. |
