Vivian

Vivian, the youngest of the Shadow Sirens, begins the game as Mario's opponent, but decides to join him later on, since Mario was the only person who was ever nice to her. Since she's always picked on by her sister Beldam, Vivian's confidence is low, but she remains very polite. By pressing Y, she will grab Mario and pull him into the shadows for some lovin'. By hiding in the shadows, you can eavesdrop on certain conversations and get past moving objects, as well as avoid enemies.

Incidentally, Vivian was male in the original Japanese version of the game (and some European versions, such as the Spanish version), despite looking (and presumably acting) exactly the same. I think I just dropped my 100 pound libido onto my own toes...

Vivian's Moves:

Initial Moves:
Shade Fist 0 FP Vivian appears before an enemy and punches it. Execute a Timed Hit by pressing the button shown (A, B, X or Y) when the icon appears on the screen. By doing this, Vivian will add Burning status to her attack. Execute a Stylish Move by pressing A just as Vivian re-emerges from the shadows after punching the enemy and disappearing.
Veil 1 FP Vivian drags Mario down into the shadows, which will allow the two of them to completely avoid all attacks for a round. Execute a Timed Hit by A and B in the pattern shown on the screen. If you mess up, Veil will fail. Execute a Stylish Move by pressing A after Vivian and Mario re-emerge, as Vivian is sliding back into her spot.
Super Rank Moves:
Fiery Jinx 6 FP Vivian summons fire to attack all enemies and give them Burning status. Execute a Timed Hit by pressing the buttons as the appear (either A, B, X or Y). Depending on how many you get right, the attack will do 0-5 HP. Execute a Stylish Move by pressing A just as Vivan points to the enemies before they are damaged.
Ultra Rank Moves:
Infatuate 4 FP Vivian uses her feminine wiles to confuse all enemies. Execute a Timed Hit by pressing A when a heart appears over each enemy. If you miss for an enemy, it will not get confused. Execute a Stylish Move by pressing A after each enemy is confused. You can do this for each enemy.

Vivian's HP & Attack Power:

Initially:
15 HP Shade Fist: 3 HP (+Burning Status for Timed Hit)
Veil: N/A
Super Rank:
20 HP Shade Fist: 4 HP (+Burning Status for Timed Hit)
Veil: N/A
Fiery Jinx: 0-5 HP (Depending on how close you get to a Timed Hit) + Burning Status
Ultra Rank:
30 HP Shade Fist: 5 HP (+Burning Status for Timed Hit)
Veil: N/A
Fiery Jinx: 0-5 HP (Depending on how close you get to a Timed Hit) + Burning Status
Infatuate: N/A

Vivian's Advantages
Vivian can cause burning status easily with Shade Fist or Fiery Jinx.
Shade Fist can attack enemies in the air or the back row.
Veil is almost essential for avoiding super-powerful charged attacks.
Fiery Jinx is powerful, causes burning status, attacks all enemies, and pierces defense.
Infatuate is useful for confusing all enemies.
Vivian's Disadvantages
Vivian is basically useless against enemies composed of fire, and not as effective against those immune to fire.
Vivian cannot Shade Fist enemies with spikes in front of them.
When Veil is used, she and Mario don't get to attack until the round AFTER they pop back up.
