Optional
Boss: Ozma
|
Late in the game, you can
fight
an optional boss by the name of Ozma. To keep it from being too
painful, you should probably have your characters around level
80-90 or higher to take Ozma on. None of the characters should be
at a
level which is a multiple of five, though, because Ozma can wipe them
out in one attack. Finish the Friendly Monsters side quest before
attempting to fight this boss, because one of your rewards for
completing it is the ability to use physical attacks against
Ozma.
Save the game before starting this battle. Please. |

To find
Ozma, go to Chocobo's Air Garden and walk to the back island. Up
on a plateau to the left, you can find an icon which, when examined,
will allow you to start the battle.
For the purposes of this walkthrough, I am using Zidane, Vivi, Steiner,
and Eiko.
However, as you can see from the picture, I also use Quina in this
battle sometimes. (It is fairly important to use Eiko rather than
Dagger because Eiko can
summon
Phoenix.) Equip Zidane with Ultima Weapon, Circlet, Bracer, Ninja
Gear, and Protect Ring. Equip as many of these abilities as you
can: Auto-Haste, HP + 20%, Auto-Life, Auto-Regen, Auto-Potion (make
sure you don't have any regular potions in inventory), High Tide,
Master Thief, Mug, and as many status ailment-preventing abilities as
possible. Zidane is going to be most useful when he trances, when
he can use Grand Lethal. Otherwise, he can try to steal the Pumice Piece, Elixir, Dark Matter, and Robe of Lords, or use items
on
the characters that need them.

Equip
Eiko with a Phoenix Pinion if she hasn't already mastered
Phoenix. Otherwise, equip her with a Pumice Piece. Make
sure she knows Curaga. She also
needs the Tiger Racket, Circlet, Bracer, and Robe of Lords. Equip
what you can of Auto-Regen, Auto-Haste, Auto-Potion, Auto-Life, Boost,
High Tide, Half MP, MP + 20%, Insomniac, Locomotion, Clear Headed,
Antibody, and Loudmouth. Have Eiko heal like crazy. High
Tide is important, because she will trance faster and be able to
double-heal. Use Phoenix when necessary, and hopefully you will
get an automatic raise if the need arises. (Excuse the wording
there.) |

|
Make sure Vivi knows
Flare. He should be equipped with the High
Mage Staff, Circlet, Egoist's Armlet, Robe of Lords, and Protect
Ring. Equip as many abilities as you can from Auto-Haste,
Auto-Life, Auto-Regen, Auto-Potion, High Tide, MP + 20%, Half MP, Clear
Headed, Loud Mouth, Antibody, Insomniac, and Locomotion. Use
Reflectx2 on one of your characters when you can, and bounce Flares off
that character. |
|
|
Equip
Steiner with Ragnarok, Genji Helmet, Venetia Shield,
Demon's Mail, and Protect Ring. Equip the abilities that you can
from
Auto-Haste, Auto-Life, Auto-Potion, Restore HP, Auto-Regen, HP + 20%,
High Tide, Chemist, Antibody, Bright Eyes, Clear Headed, Insomniac, and
Locomotion. Use Shock as much as possible, and maybe a few Flare
Swords. |
|
|
Ozma
has
over 55,000 hit points,
which may not seem like a lot, but its defense is high, and it attacks
hard and fast. Expect the battle to last a while, and stay
alert.
Note: You can use any combination of characters you like, of
course, and you should know their strong and weak points by now, as
well as what abilities are the most helpful. Quina, for instance,
can be a very strong character, and her Mighty Guard can save the
day. Just use whoever suits you best. |
