Character Creation

At the beginning of the character creation process, you can distribute 90 points to your six attributes (Strength, Agility, Stamina, Charisma, Wisdom and Intelligence). Minimum for each attribute is 10.

Now you must choose gender, race and profession. The following lists give an overview of the attribute-changes depending on your choice.

Your character starts with 400 Hitpoints, 400 Food and 400 Gold. You die when the number Hitpoints or Food reaches 0. And in Ultima 2 you will NOT be resurrected by Lord British. So death is fatal this time.

How to improve your character

Experience Points:

You can get Experience Points by killing monsters in the dungeons and towers or on the overworld. You gain a new level for every 100 Experience Points. You can reach a maximum of 9999 Experience Points.

Improving your attributes:

There is only one place in the game where you can raise your attributes. Go to New San Antonio (1990 AD) and offer the clerk of the Hotel California 100 gold. If he says "Alakazam!", one of your attributes gets raised by 4 points (there is a chance that he doesn't say it, which means that you lost your gold). Which attribute he is raising can't be influenced. The maximum for each attribute is 99.

Hitpoints:

You can buy Hitpoints from Lord British or the Lord of Castle Barataria on Planet X. The fee is 50 Gold. The number of Hitpoints you get for your Gold depends on your current amount of Hitpoints.Your character can reach a maximum of 9999 Hitpoints.
