Malboro

Note: All artifacts in the 'Artifact Drop' list with a asterix next to it can only be received in that level by beating the boss.
It cannot be found naturally within that level.
Also note that just because you receive (for example) 140+ points, doesn't mean you'll get the Artifact set that requires 139+ points. You may get the 102+ points artifact set or less. You just simply meet the requirements for that particular set to appear.

Hell/StonePlantsx2 - Variety
Strategy

Don't get scared by its ugly facade, this is an easy boss. As with the Cave Worm, this boss is rooted in one spot and merely pivots on its axis to face you and attack; this simplifies the battle immensely. Like any plant, it is vulnerable to fire. Its pitiful speed makes it quite easy to cast a triple-fused spell after each of its attacks. For those who want to go in with weapons blazing, its best to fuse a Flamestrike with one of your weapons to get that added vulnerability bonus. The variety of attacks the Malboro employs follows:

Quake TentacleIts most common form of attack is digging its tentacles into the ground and jabbing them up into you from below: Its quite easy to avoid, you simply run off to the far left or right side as soon as the Malboro lifts up its front tentacles.
Bad BreathAnother common attack is its notorious bad breath. In a predictable fashion, it'll rear back its head before dispersing putrid, noxious gas your way: When you see him face you and begin his breath action, hurry off to the other side of the arena and continue attacking if you are able.
SlowgaIt has a wide-range Slowga spell: When you see the makings of the spell, get as far away as you can. If you manage to get hit with it, stay back until it wears off.
CurseIf you choose to battle this beast at a distance, it casts curse spells to bring you back in closer. As with any spell, look for the tell-tale sign of the spell underneath your feet and move out of the way.
SuctionNot really an attack, but when it tries to suck you towards its body, it is completely defenseless: Run right up to it and do as much damage as possible while its sucking you in.

Later Cycles: Including stronger enemy cohorts, the Malboro will have the Blizzaga spell added to his repitoire. Its range is far and wide and can be very damaging. Run as soon as you see Blizzaga forming and be sure to come equipped with Frost Mail or a Frost Badge, preferably both.
