Side Events

The story of Crystal Chronicles is not told directly through the main gameplay but through random (and not so random) side events. These come in two forms, 'story portions' and 'caravan events.' Story portions are usually fixed in the years you travel in Chronicles and usually pounce on you at the same time every time you play through. Caravan events are more random and thus are not always reliable at showing up at the same times in the same places as story portions would. Thus, the charts below are split up into two sections to support that fact. Keep track on what events you've encountered so far so you can be on the look-out for the new ones. On a side-note, the caravan events, unlike the story portions, can happen multiple times.

Black Knight's Story
Gurdy's Story
Bandit Band's Story
Part 1
Part 1
Part 1
After receiving your first drop of Myrrh, the caravan from Alfitaria will meet up with you, headed by Sol Racht. Sol will mention to you the legend regarding the famous Black Knight. After roughly 8 drops of Myrrh, you'll encounter the Marr's Pass caravan who will be arguing with a young fellow named Gurdy. They are not pleased with his company and believe he is insane. The first time you meet the bandits, it won't even be a meeting at all. They flash by your caravan, check its goods and run off with an item. The items listed below are possible items they can steal. Note: This event can happen multiple times.

Part 2

Around 4 drops of Myrrh, you'll encounter the Marr's Pass caravan badly in need of help. They claim that though they challenged the Black Knight to a friendly duel, he was a raving madman and spared them no quarter. Is he a hero of legend as Sol Racht said, or a mass murderer?Approximately 11 drops of Myrrh will prompt the Fields of Fum caravan to cross your path with another Gurdy event. This time, he seems to have swindeled the Fum caravan by promising something he couldn't keep. He'll ask if you can loan him 1000 gil; if you agree to give it to him, you get nothing in return and you'll never see that gil again.
Part 3
Part 3
Part 2
Beginning with your third year, you will encounter a caravan who will defend the honor of the Black Knight and his noble deeds. Just what is going on here? When 14 drops of Myrrh have been collected, Gurdy is hitching a ride now with the Shella caravan. He swindles the caravan with a loaf of bread and you see first-hand at what a swindler Gurdy really is!The fifth drop of Myrrh will prompt the Bandit Band to come out of hiding and lure you into a trap by pretending their carrying animal needs medical attention. Thankfully the 'father figure' of the group was asleep at the time he was supposed to steal your wares. No harm done.
Part 4
Part 4
Part 3
In your fourth year, Sol Racht will return from the Alfitaria caravan and seek to investigate this mysterious Black Knight to either vindicate him or uncover if he truly is a murderer. He personally believes the Black Knight couldn't do all the horrible things people have said he has done.An odd event happens where you encounter Gurdy, but he is different. His hair color and clothes he wears is different. He claims that he is not Gurdy, but his brother. Mysterious markings on his back signal a weird episode talking about something named 'Raem.'Sometime in your third or fourth year, your character will walk straight up to the conspiring Bandits and ask them flat out if they have killed people. They claim to have done no such thing. For some reason, this is a satisfying answer for your character.
Part 5
Part 5
Part 4
Upon your collection of 13 drops of Myrrh, and in your fifth year or so, you will finally meet the Black Knight! He seems fairly schizo and talking to thin air. Something about a monster eating his memories. He runs off after this invisible monster leaving you in the dust and totally clueless. This event is the same event as part 5 of the Bandits tale. The Bandits will have Gurdy as a hostage and demand a ransom of 1,000 gil. You can choose to give in, donate a Striped Apple or simply give nothing. Best bet is to donate that Striped Apple to free Gurdy.Anytime after the third year, the Bandit Band will start blocking the roads and demand a toll to pass through. If you agree to pay the toll, you'll lose insane amounts of money, up to 8,000 gil! On the other hand, you can barrel through the moogle and escape the Bandits without paying. Note: This event can happen multiple times.
Part 6
-
Part 5
The final part of the Black Knight story comes to a tragic end with your sixteenth drop of Myrrh. Once the event is over, you can head back to Alfitaria to speak with the major players who took part in said event.
-
This is the same event as part 5 of Gurdy's Story. You can either pay 1,000 gil, give a Striped Apple to the bandits or do nothing to save Gurdy.
-
-
Part 6
-
-
Once you've completed all other portions of the Bandit's story, including the one with Gurdy, this event will randomly appear after your sixth year. Like most other stories in this game, it ends in tragedy.

The first time you encounter the Marr's Pass caravan, they will be chasing down a monster and passing you by without so much as a single word.

The second event is the same as the first, but they will stop chasing the monster and tell you information about what they were chasing.

The Fum Caravan
Event 1
The first time you meet the caravan, its merely a introduction. They will tell briefly about how they are farmers by nature and how they love the land.
Event 2
You will meet up with the caravan multiple times after the first year. They will offer that you join them in their meal. Should to agree, they will randomly give you an item from the chart below:
Possible Items
Cherry Cluster
Gourd Potato
Rainbow Grapes
Round Corn
Star Carrot
Striped Apple
Event 3
At various times during your journey beyond the third year, you will travel with the caravan briefly as they talk to you about the intricacies of growing fruit and vegetables. At random, they will send a seed to your family after your talks.
Event 4
Sometime during the third year and beyond, you will eventually trade gil for items the caravan is offering. They will usually offer a random material item (found in the list in the Marr's Pass event 5) and name a price, which you can raise or lower. Double the price and they will give you two of said item. Unfortunately, its a big rip-off and only for those who don't want to go looking for a rare material.
The Shella Caravan
Event 1
At various points in your travels, you will encounter the Shella caravan. The leader of the caravan, Amidatty, will offer to trade you an item. The trade is usually a fair bargain, so its best to agree to any such trade with the Shella caravan.
Event 2
At various points in your travels, you will encounter the Shella caravan. The caravan will offer information about random monsters for about 10 gil. Its a good offer and worth a look. All monster information possible is lsited in the chart in event 3 of the Alfitaria Caravan.
Event 3
You must have space in your inventory and must be beyond year six and have seen event 3 of Gurdy's Story to trigger this event. You will bear witness to Amidatty comparing the world to a loaf of bread. Its up to you if you want to dash his theories or not by eating it.
Event 4
If you saw the last event, complete another year and this event will randomly appear. Amidatty is still concerned about the meaning of that loaf!
Event 5
After the seventh year, the analysis on that Bannock Loaf will be complete and Amidatty will share his vast wisdom with you. Its up to you if you think he is truly crazy or not.
The Leuda Caravan
Event 1
You'll meet the interesting couple out on the road. Apparently, they are having a good time adventuring and not really giving much care to their quest for collecting Myrrh.
Event 2
After a long while and only after your chalice is two-thirds full, you'll encounter the pair again, but under different circumstances. It seems that these caravanners are not quite as happy as they used to be and get in a heated arguement in which you promptly leave from.
Event 3
You'll encounter them repeatedly after the third year and they will offer to sell you materials at a slight discount. Pick some up if you're interested. The chart for these materials can be found in event 4 of the Marr's Pass caravan.
Event 4
Anytime after year four, you can agree to watch the couple dance for you to the music of the annual festival. Its not really that interesting and its up to you if you want to waste time like that.
