Tools

Back in my day, we didn't have any fancy schmancy tools. We just had a big stick and a rock, and we liked it! You damn kids are just spoiled these days. But anyway, here's the lowdown on all the tools in the game. (Why doesn't Jack just buy a powertool anyway?)

Picture Name Obtained Price Energy Used Description
Watering Can Watering Can Given to you by the Flower Shop owner on Day 1 -- 2 points This will probably be your most important tool until you get the Sprinkler, or if you decide to just stick to livestock. It waters crops, 1 square at a time. If you don't water your crops, they won't grow.
Sickle Sickle You start with it -- 2 points The Sickle allows you to cut grass, 1 square at a time. Grass is needed to feed your animals. You can also cut small bushes with it, but that's a waste of energy. Useful until you get the Super Sickle.
Hoe Hoe You start with it -- 2 points All SGs diggaz say WHAT? The hoe is used to make holes in the ground, so that you can plant your crops in them. It does this 1 square at a time. Personally, I prefer this over the Super Hoe, since the Super Hoe makes it hard to create Donut Fields, my favourite way of planting my crops (see the Farming Tips for details)
Hammer Hammer You start with it -- 2 points Can't touch this. *doo doo de doo* Well, it should be pretty obvious what this does. It breaks shit :P Boulders, to be precise. Small boulders only take one hit, but large ones take 6 hits. The Super Hammer allows you to break large boulders with one mighty swing, though.
Axe Axe You start with it -- 2 points I got Axe for you! Again, this one should be pretty obvious. You shop stuff up. Trees, to be exact. Well, tree stumps. These things take 6 hits, but they're your only source of wood. And you need wood to build more fences and to improve your house. I really do wonder how wooden houses can survive tornadoes, though... once again, the Super Axe is a great improvement, being able to chop them up in 1 slash.
Sprinkler Sprinkler Bought in the Tool Shop 2000 3 points The upgrade of the Watering Can. Instead of one square, it can water 9 squares at a time. That's an incredibly handy time and energy saver. Get this ASAP.
Super Sickle Super Sickle Obtained from the Harvest Gnomes or bought in the Tool Shop 2000 3 points The upgrade of the Sickle. The Super Sickle affects 9 squares at a time, and will be one of your most valuable tools if you focus on your lifestock.
Super Hoe Super Hoe Obtained from the Harvest Gnomes or bought in the Tool Shop 2000 3 points The upgrade of the Hoe. Instead of 1 square, it now affects 6 squares at a time. But personally I prefer the standard Hoe, it's annoying to make Donut Fields with the Super Hoe.
Super Hammer Super Hammer Obtained from the Carpenter or bought in the Tool Shop 2000 3 points The upgrade of the Hammer. The Super Hammer is capable of breaking large rocks in one smash, thus saving a lot of energy. However, it uses more energy for one swing than the standard Hammer does, so using it on small rocks is a waste of energy. Still, I prefer this. I'm too lazy to carry around 2 Hammers :P
Super Axe Super Axe Obtained from the Godess of Spring or bought in the Tool Shop 2000 3 points The upgrade of the Axe. The Super Axe allows you to break tree stumps in one swing, thus saving a lot of energy. And since that's the only thing you'll ever use it for, there's no downside to this. Woo :P
Bell Bell Obtained when you get your first cow -- 2 points The bell attracts cows. You ring it, and cows walk over to you. Not really useful, since all you can do is let them eat the grass outside (which is not worth the time to get them out of the stable, gah, frustrating) and take them outside to sell them. So yeah, now you know why it came so cheap :P
Brush Brush Bought in the Tool Shop 800 2 points The brush is used to make cows happy. Brush and talk to a cow daily to increase it's happiness rating. If it's happy, it produces better quality milk, which can be sold for more. So yeah, I like to buy this when I get my first cow.
Milker Milker Bought in the Tool Shop 1800 3 points This is used to milk your cows. Without this, they just sit around all day while eating your food :P Since milk is one of the best products to have (especially in winter), it's crucial that you get this. Once again, you NEED this to milk your cows.
Miracle Potion Miracle Potion Bought at the Livestock Dealer 4000 2 points This impregnates your cows. It will produce lower quality milk for 21 days, after which a baby cow is born. Then it will take another 21 days for the baby cow to start giving milk. Just spend the extra 1000 to buy a new cow, much better.
Cow Medicine Cow Medicine Bought at the Livestock Dealer 1000 2 points This cures your cows when they get sick. Just don't get them sick, and you won't need it. If they do become sick, buy this ASAP. Sick cows don't produce milk, and move slower and stuff. That's bad.
Cow Fodder Cow Fodder Bought at the Lifestock Dealer 800 2 points Alternate feed for cows instead of grass. Stick with grass, cheaper, better. It's useful when you're out of grass in the winter, though.
Chicken Fodder Chicken Fodder Bought at the Lifestock Dealer 1000 2 points Alternate feed for chickens instead of grass. Stick with grass, cheaper, better. It's useful when you're out of grass in the winter, though.
Paint Paint Bought at the Tool Shop 1000 2 points This paints the walls of your house in a lovely shade of white. That's it.
