Note: The power of these spells varies from enemy to enemy but basically increases at a general rate of perhaps %30-%50 in descending order. I prefer Fire, because Fire has moderate power, takes up a moderate amount of magic, and deflects the enemy to the other side of the screen upon contact which is very helpful later in the game. Furthermore, the magic consumed is blown up to 200%.
