Space and its Ragnarok: Save Rinoa!

Go to Walkthrough Index   Go to Disc 1   Go to Disc 2   Go to Disc 3   Go to Disc 4

Edea's house and White SeeD Ship Esthar, the city of wonders Interlude: Lunatic Pandora Space and its Ragnarok: Save Rinoa! Lunatic Pandora, take two

GFs: from this point on: Cactuar, Bahamut, Eden, Tonberry...
Items: Nothing important.

Ah, the Lunarside Basis. Lots of blinking things and funny people around! Can you tell I like space? Anyway, check on Rinoa, then follow the others. Look around, talk to people, save. Drop Rinoa off in the room to the north. Once she is in the isolated chamber, leave the scene to the lower right, talk to everyone once more and check the monitor. It's the moon, and it is pretty. You will find Ellone in a room to the south, so go talk to her for the answers you have been looking for, and take a sneak peek at Adel, the creepy sorceress from hell. I don't know why, but I like her.

Return to Rinoa who is going nuts in her room- Adel is taking control of her and forcing her to break out of her prison! Follow her and check the monitor. Another sequence; millions of monsters are rushing towards the earth. This will mean a lot of trouble later on.. I told you there would be enough time to level up now, didn't I? (What can I say. Where others see monsters, I see free items and Exp. :D)

Anyway, back to Rinoa. Take the space suit out of the locker. Follow Rinoa to the bridge and through the air lock. Go after her. Save her. You have two minutes time. Watch your oxygen. If you don't manage it the first time, you won't automatically be game over- you can retry, and with each time it will get easier. Note how you will feel like an idiot and how you can literally hear your SeeD- level dropping with each failure.

Having rescued Rinoa, the Ragnarok will appear- the surely most awesome vehicle in the game. It's fast, it's fancy, and it can take you anywhere! But before you can fly it, you will have to free it from the monsters which are inhabiting it. Take off your space suits, and check the locations of the beasts. You will always have to kill two of a color in a row, or else they will respawn and you'll never be done. I suggest you to start with the purple or green ones, they're pretty easy to beat. After you killed the first pair, the rest should be easy because you will be able to move much more freely.

Once you killed them all off, head to the control room and Selphie will prove her pilot skills. Contact the base in Esthar and they will guide you back safely. Rinoa will be taken into custody though. Go to the passenger room, talk to everybody and form a new party. They all agree: Rinoa has to be rescued. Again. I wonder what everyone likes about her; all she ever does is cause trouble and get on your nerves with her endless "We're all friends and Squall has no reason to be emo"- gibberish. Fly to the witches' mausoleum to the north of Tear's Point (the sorceress memorial) and talk the guards into letting you inside. Talk to the researchers, walk left, free Rinoa, woo and yay we're reunited, leave.

IT'S SIDEQUEST TIME. Now you have an all access- pass to the world so to speak, and you can fly to any area in the game to pick up what you missed! This includes:

  • Getting the GFs Bahamut and Eden (see sidequests section for details).
  • Do the CC subquest, get the GFs Odin and Tonberry if you don't have them yet (though this would be mighty late), do the Winhill-, Shumi-, Obel lake-, Chocobo- and UFO- subquests (again, see sidequest section).
  • Defeat Cactuar on Cactuar Island to gain the Cactuar- GF. Fly around until you find an island with a huge cactus on it, run against it; fight but watch out because he's pretty strong.
  • Check out the Island closest to heaven and Island closest to hell to fight the strongest regular monsters in the game, gain important items (such as for your weapons or to gain Doomtrain) and the draw points carrying some of the strongest spells in the game (run around on the islands and click randomly, they're full of hidden draw points).
  • Upgrade your weapons to the max, and chill, reading some Timber Maniacs!

This is the last chance for a long time that you can do some sidequests, so get down with business and take care of everything. Stock up on important spells and items, pick up items you missed. Your next and last stop on this Disc is Esthar.
