Rhys' Adventure The Abduction
When the game starts, you are in the Town of Landen. If you try to exit, an old man will tell you to go back to the castle and find your bride. You play the role as Rhys, Prince of Landen. Talk around town and all you will hear are talks about the wedding. Enter the castle. Go to the far upper left room to find Maia, Rhys' Bride. The story behind Maia is that Rhys found her on laying on a beach nearly dead. When she awoke, she could not remember anything. Rhys fell in love with her and now you are here. Rhys escourts her to the throne room, and just as Rhys is about to declair Maia her wife, a Dragon shows up and takes her away. Rhys then gets really mad and says that he will take the Army and destroy Laya's clan. The King tells Rhys to cool off in the dungeon. Guards take him to the dungeon while he says that he will bring her back. In the dungeon, grab the Knife, 300 Meseta and the Monitor. Go to the gates and talk to the woman there. This is Lena. She helps Rhys break out. You will find yourself outside the Technique shop. Beginning of a Great Adventure
Sell your Knife and buy a Short Sword. Don't bother buying a Hunting Helmet right now. Buy a few Monomates and an Antidote. Go around town fighting Chirpers. They are only worth 1 Exp each, but at least get to Level 2. When reach it, head down to the town of Yaata. Now is the time to buy a Hunting Armor. Talk around and you will hear of the old man in town who owns the boat. Talk to him and he mentions a cyborg. That is the only way to get on the boat. Level up to level 4 and head to the town of Ilan past the bridge to the east. A man by the north end of town will say that he saw one of Laya's people at the lake by the Northeastern Forest. Rest up and buy some more Monomates and Antidotes. Head northeast from Ilan until you see a small lake surrounded by trees. If you talked to the man in Ilan, you will see a woman in red standing there. Talk to her and she will say that she is not a Layan, but a Cyborg who can only be controlled by a decendant of Orakio. Mieu, the Cyborg, then joins the party. Mieu can use 2 claws at the same time, which can be very handy. The Island Cave
Level Mieu up to Level 2-3 and head back to Yaata. Buy Mieu another Claw and alter her techniques so that they favor Anti. Rest and Save. Talk to the Old Man and he will allow you to go to the Island Cave. Hop aboard and he will sail you across, telling you about the sunken palace and Dark Force being held there by the Sword of Orakio. Once he drops you off, enter the Island Cave. Caves in Phantasy Star 3 are generally small, but it is the monsters that give it their difficulty. I hope you bought a lot of Monomate. Rhys should be around level 5 and Mieu around 3. Grab the Escapipe, just in case you need it. There are not too many treasures in here to worry about, just make sure to grab them. At the west side of the cave is a big opening. Go north until you see a man standing there. This is Lyle. He will give you the Sapphire and will leave. Leave as well. Take the boat back to Yaata. Rest up and sell the Shield you got in the cave. Stock up on some more Monomate and Antidotes. Save your game and head directly east from Yaata. Go into the circle of mountains and you should see a temple there. Ignore it for now and enter the cave just above it. The Sapphire will glow and you will be allowed inside.
Aquatica
This passage is filled with stronger monsters. I hope you leveled up good in the Island Cave. The Nayls have a strong defense and the Lobowings have a good attack. Like most dungeons in Phantasy Star III, there is only 1 floor. From the entrance, go up and right. Go to the end and take the 1st right. Go up to an Antidote or down to continue. When you come to the 4 way crossing, go down for a Monomate and right to the exit. You will now be in the world of Aquatica. Head southeast to the town of Rysel. Talk around and the people will say how everything is frozen but not suppost to be. People are dying and they need help. Buy Mieu a pair of Hunting Claws and a Hunting Vest. Buy Rhys a Steel Armor. If you do not have the money, get the Claws first then the armor as you fight for it. You should now be around level 7 by now. Rest up and Save. Head south past the bridge and go to where you see 2 forts. Walk directly south from the top one to enter another passage, like last time. Monsters are the same as they were in the last passage. Follow until you come to an up/left fork. Go left and follow, not making any turns in the middle of the way. You should see a chest containing a Dimate. Go up and left to a chest with an Antidote. Go down all the way and left to exit. Western Cave
Now you will be on a planet that looks like a
desert. Aridia is hard to navigate, so use the Monitor until you
are above the lone river. Go down from there and you should see
the town of Hazatak. Talk around and you will hear of Wren, who
is in the This cave is pretty tough. Right now, just find Wren as quick as you can without picking up any treasures. Reason being is that the Grinder dwells in here (the really big head). To get to Wren, go up to the top and go left. At the end, go down and right. Go up and you should see Wren. He is another Cyborg who will join the party. Give him and equip the Hunting Shot. Now you can grab the Dimate and Escapipe in this cave. Exit the cave. Restoring Aquatica
Head back to town and buy Wren a Protector and a Head Gear. Rest up and head east. Look at your monitor and head to the southeastern mountain. Go just a bit right of the temple and there will be the Control tower. Enter. Go up and take a right. Go right, ignoring the stairs, until you come to Lyle (the guy with the Sapphire). This time, he will join. Head right and take the first path going down that you see. Follow and check the Weather Control System. Wren will fix it. Lyle will give his thanks and tell Rhys to come to his home. Head back to town. Alter Wren's and Lyle's Technique to favor Tsu. Rest up and head back to Aquatica via the Passage. Once you get back to Aquatica, you will notice that the ice has melted. Head to the boat a bit north of Rysel and take it to cross the sea. Enter the town of Agoe. Buy a Steel Vest for Mieu and and a Steel Gear for Wren (don't buy a Steel Helmet, as it doesn't offer as much protection). Talk to the King in the castle. He says that Agoe is not strong enough to battle Shusoran. Looks like you know where to go next.
Shusoran
Enter the town of Shusoran just a bit north of Agoe. The town will be deserted except for the shops being open. Just concentrate on upgrading Rhys to a Ceramic Armor and a Steel Sword. Also, get Wren a Ceramic Shot (attacks a row). If you don't have the money, fight to get it. Give Rhys about 5 Dimates. Rest and Save and head to the fountain on the northwest corner of town. Walk right into it and you will be inside the dungeon. The monster in this dungeon are going to be a bit tougher, so make sure to keep your HP at a decent level. From the entrance, you can go straight up to get a Trimate, or go directly right and up at the end to enter the castle. Go up and left and into the main building of the castle. Take the stairs to the left back into the dungeon and go down and right and up again to go back into the castle. Walk around and go down at the end. Unequip Lyle of everything and then walk down the hallway. As you reach the end of the hallway, Rhys will notice that Lena is there. Lyle will leave, saying to fight him to be able to talk to Lena. Follow him and before talking to him, have Mieu heal Rhys to full power. Talk to Lyle and you will be in a 1-on-1 fight with him.
Talk to Lena and she will say that you must backtrack a bit to the Control Tower in Aridia, to put the Moon Stone and Moon Tear in the machine to put the moon's in alignment and make a bridge that leads to Maia. Lena joins the party. Shusoran
Exit Shusoran and upgrade her equipment to Steel Knives. Rest and save. Go back on the boat and take the passageway back to Aridia. Once there, head to Hazatak to rest (if needed) and then to the Control Tower. Go back to where you fixed the weather machine. Go beyond that and ignore the first stairway you come to. Go left and take the last path going up that you come to. Go up the stairs. Go down and left to the Satellite Control System. Wren will put the Moon Stone and Moon Tear into the machine and the 2 moons, Dahlia and Azure will move back into place. Exit and head back to Hazatak to rest. Go back to Aquatica via Passageway. Cille
Head to Shusoran. Make sure everybody has their strongest equipment. A Steel Sword and Ceramic Armor for Rhys, Steel Claws, Vest and a Hunting Ribbon for Mieu, Ceramic Shot and Steel Protector for Wren, Steel Staves and Steel Cape for Lyle, and Steel Knives and Steel Chest for Lena. Also load up with Dimate. When ready, head to Shusoran and go through the castle to the other side. Go to the small peninsula and a land bridge will appear. Head north to the town of Cille
The equipment in Cille is not worth getting. It is too far advanced for this point in the game. Rest up and Save if needed. Make sure you alter Lyle's Techs to favor Zan. You will notice that the gates to the castle are closed. Just like in Shusoran, you have to enter through the fountain. Enter the 3rd fountain from the left. Monsters here are getting tougher. Follow the pathway until you come to a fork. Go right at the fork and go up all the way. Go left to the end and go down and take the stairs. You are now in the castle. The monsters are harder here, so make sure to keep your HP high. Make your way around the castle and into the Throneroom. The King of Cille will be there guarding his daughter, Maia. He then attacks with 6 Dryads.
After the fight, King Cille admits defeat and lets you marry Maia. But... You are given a choice between her and Lena. Marry Maia, and Rhys will rule over Cille. Marry Lena, and Rhys will rule over Landen and will create an alliance with neighboring Satera. Phantasy Star III made this game interesting by you being able to choose 2 different paths. Make your choice, but no matter what, Rhys will spawn a son.
