Wood can be found in Justern.  He's hard to miss due to his very strange appearance.  He'll temporarily join you on the way to the Ice Lake.  If you want him after that, return to Justern and talk to him once again.

Wood is one of the few people that specialize in Big Swords that can be used in the final battle.  He's very slow which makes him a good person to put suits on.  His HP and WP climb very quickly.
