Katrina can only be played in her scenario. Both Harid and Mikhail get her temporarily during their intros.
Katrina is very good in all aspects... well except for magic. Her speed makes her the best candidate for that wonderful Ice Sword. She becomes exceedingly strong with exceptional attack power. Her specializations also make her good with 4 different kinds of weapons: Epees, Spears, Big Swords, and normal Swords. Katrina is probably the most versatile character in the game other than Muse.
